ABC News: Michele Bachmann Considering Presidential Bid

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is considering running for the Republican nomination for president in 2012, ABC News reported Wednesday.

The third-term lawmaker, who formed the Tea Party Caucus last year, is making her third trip to Iowa in eight months. She will seek advice from local party leaders, as well as speak at a Jan. 21 fundraiser for Iowans for Tax Relief political action committee.

Should she run, Bachmann would join a field of candidates that could include four former governors — Mike Huckabee (Ark.), Sarah Palin (Alaska), Tim Pawlenty (Minn.) and Mitt Romney (Mass.) — as well as Sen. John Thune (S.D.), Rep. Mike Pence (Ind.) and former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.), all of whom are rumored to be weighing bids.

I’m still for DeMint or Palin if they get into the race but if neither do, Bachmann works for me. If nothing else, a few more conservatives to gang up on the RINOs during the debates may push the whole field a little further to the right.

In a non-Press-Release post to Free Republic today, January 5th, 2011 poster SparkyBass announced that he is indeed NOT running for President, nor will he ever do so.

But the latest Zogby poll says SparkyBass is the only candidate leading Obama in the polls. Help us SparkyBass, you're our only hope...

Michele Bachmann? Works for me.

I hate seeing the standard Mitt, Tim and Huck names in these articles about potential candidates. We need to vanquish those RINOs early in the primaries.

FWIW,bedbug, here’s the kind of reaction a Michelle Bachmann bid would produce:
http://hotair.com/headlines/archives/2011/01/05/report-michele-bachmann-considering-presidential-run/
(From an ostensibly conservative site)
She’ll get “Alinskyed” and slimed exactly like SP.

Why OY....the more the merrier.

Let Michell Bachman get in there and mix it up with Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, The Huckster, Rudy Guliani and everyone else.

If she is not cut out for it, it will show itself pretty quickly.

Michelle is right on all the issues, but she lacks executive experience.

Exactly!

Executives require a different set of skills (strategic, et al) and middle mgt (congresscritters) require more technical savy.

I like Bachman - a lot - but she first needs executive experience and accomplishments ala Governor.

Works for me!

She’s smart, tough & respects the Constitution. She even knows what it says.

She has managed to stay true to her principles even in DC.

Bachmann(Potus) / Palin(VeeP) and Malkin as Attorney General, Coulter as Press Sec., AND Rice as Sec. of State..

Palin can wait for 2016.. shes young enough..

Now this could be interesting. How will those who have been behind former Governor Palin who also see Bachmann as an equal going to assign their allegiances?

I’d have to agree. She is articulate, intelligent and can hold up her end of hostile media interviews, all qualities that Palin lacks. Plus she doesn’t have high negatives. And as a former democrat (a la RR) she might swing some blue collar democrats to the GOP side.

I’m a fan of Palin & a fan of Bachmann. Bachmann needs executive experience. And if you think they’ve been ragging on Palin’s “extremism” (which is a joke if you’ve read her record, btw), what they do with Michele Bachmann (and her straight shootin’) will make your eyeballs fall out.

Thankfully, energy independence and the role it will play in stabilizing our currency and economy will end up being the important issue of the day in 2012. Especially by the time Obama finishes screwing it up.

That will be the issue that decides the 2012 election and no candidate will be able to match Palin’s expertise on it.

Bachmann for Attorney General of the United States in a Palin administration. heh

She'd probably never be governor of liberal Minnesota. Her path to POTUS is probably via the VP slot.

She would be like the 43rd candidate.... New Hampshire is going to get crowded.

ROTFLMAO!!! All the Democrats masquerading as 'Independents' and all the Free Staters/Libertarians masquerading as 'Republicans' are going to turn the NH GOP 'OPEN primary' into a REAL circus! LOLOL!!! They are working to undermine Palin already, and now they may have to worry about Bachmann??? This is hysterical!
