Congress should take up work on comprehensive immigration reform once the U.S. borders are secure, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday.
McCain, a longtime proponent of comprehensive reform who had tacked right in his race for reelection last year, said that an immigration deal could be an area of compromise between Republicans and Democrats.
"Once we get the border secured and we can get the border secured I would look forward to working on comprehensive immigration reform," the 2008 Republican presidential nominee said on NBC's "Today" show.
The Arizona senator had in the past favored legislation that would give illegal immigrants a path to citizenship. But McCain tacked to his right after facing a primary challenge from former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R). . .

Congress should take up work on comprehensive immigration reform once the U.S. borders are secure Immigration reform should mean if you didn't get here legally then we will deport you. Obviously we aren't doing that now.
McCain, you are a traitor to your country. You may have been a hero in VietNam but what have you done for your country lately

This will not become an issue until 2012. Only in a presidential election year! Suckers, we got your number. The wood mallet will become a 20 lb sledge!

...how about we end all freebies for illegal aliens and their extended families. They can all leave the way they arrived, by self deporting.
California voters tried that in 1994 by passing Prop 187, but a federal judge overturned it. That's what we're up against here.

Wake up and smell the roses, Rabs. You should throw a party with pissant and sit around playing with yourselves. It will get you less heartburn and make more sense than this constant assault on Palin with half-truths and innuendos. You sound just like DU or MSNBC... and offer about as much to the PDS!

Here is my plan: deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border with a wall, fence, and troops, and have a lethal response to anyone who tried to cross illegally.First we need to apply that plan to politicians before we can successfully apply it to illegal aliens.

How hard is it to understand that it is impossible to send 20 million back across the border and with the open border, impossible to stop the migration. How hard is it to understand this?
- Deport on contact with LE.
- Enforce the law strongly on employers of illegals.
- Strong border security. Build the physical fence and use high-tech surveillance.
- Eliminate entitlements for illegal aliens except for true emergency care.
- End the "anchor baby" policy.
Do that and the illegal aliens will deport themselves at their own expense. Rapidly.

"I support [McCain's] position on immigration." SARAH PALIN, 27 MAR. 2010My dear, dear rabscuttle385, it's really wrong for you to bring up Mrs Palin's comments during the 2010 Campaign. As Juan's VP pic, and second on the ticket, she had to support his stance on immigration and cap and trade and...
Excuse me, what's that?...2010 was his Senate Campaign?...oh, sorry...carry on

And the idiot voters in Arizona bought it......again and again and again. And Mc Laim continues the behavior he will never change. The same goes for the Arizona voters.

Are you kidding?
It was Palin who grandstanded for Ol’ Juan at her Arizona Tea Party rally, and Ol’ Juan played the role perfectly. He suddenly adopted the role of Tea Party Patriot, and repeated the mantra from then on till he was elected. And FReeper apologists defended her saying that she “owed” him an “old debt”. But now, it's “Payed-in-Full” from here on out!
Palin was one of the main factors why Mc Nasty was reelected. Like it or not, this will haunt her for the rest of her political career.

If this one doesn't suit her taste, I'm sure there are many more behind any one of Juan's eight Arizona ranch houses.

True. But he didn’t retweet Tammy Bruce’s position on it. And he was one of the few willing to go to the mat.
