New Speaker Vows to Share Powera Tricky Proposition
JANUARY 4, 2011
By NAFTALI BENDAVID And PATRICK O'CONNOR
When John Boehner takes over one of the most powerful jobs in Washington this week, he says his first order of business is to make himself less powerful.
On Wednesday the new speaker of the House of Representatives plans to offer a package of rule changes that, he says, will give minority-party members more of a say and decentralize power. In short, Ohio Republican Mr. Boehner is promising he'll be a different figure from many speakers throughout historyfrom Republican Joseph Cannon a century ago to his immediate predecessor, Democrat Nancy Pelosiwho kept a tighter leash.
But there's a reason so many speakers try to keep close control: It works.

Bone headed Boehner
Nonsense...it’s not like they haven’t betrayed us before....
Where does he think he is, Mamby Pamby Land? Geez what a loser.
Remember Trent Lott. He was Senate Majority Leader when the Senate was split 50-50 but there was a Republican VP so the Republicans had the majority. To be "fair" he split the committee chairmanships. When the Democrats controlled they would lock the committee room doors and not even allow Republicans in the room. The Democrats repaid Lott's kindness by drumming him out of office over an innocent remark at Strom Thurman's 100th birthday celebration.
Remember "Read My Lips. No new taxes."? Then George Mitchell, Democrat Senate Majority Leader cajoled him for being too intractable on taxes and he gave in. Hello Slick Willie, good bye GHW Bush.
Remember GW Bush's New Tone in Washington? The Democrats said thank you and rolled him every chance they could.
Politics is a blood sport for Democrats but a fair competition to Republicans. Guess who wins that street fight.
Meet the new Spinster of the House, folks.
Leni
Charlie Brown on his back again.
Maybe Boehner can get together with Pelosi on the same couch she sat on with Gingrich.

Democrats see these kinds of gestures as signs of naïveté and weakness and as an open invitation to create more havoc.
Look what they did to Bush and his attempts to placate them with his “Compassionate Conservatism”. They used him, took everything they could, and crapped on him at every opportunity.
When democrats have the majority they consolidate their power and take the legs out from under anyone who looks like a possible challenger to their dominance. When republicans have the majority they try to show how fair and open minded they are.
Democrats and their tactics are winning the battles. Every year the Republic is weakened and our constitutional government becomes less constitutional.
Looks like Boehner needs a good primary opponent in 2012...
There is a REASON Republicans are called the STUPID Party...
Its all about the Good Cop-Bad cop con with the Rinocrat Oligarchy.
Of course we’ve been had. His very committee appointments in Novemeber said that.
To be fair, Boehner is not Newt Gingrich... he’s not the kind of guy who allows the power rush to get to his head and he well aware with the Democrats running the White House and Senate, there are limits to what he can do. You won’t find him making controversial statements that make him an easy punching bag for the Democrats.
He won’t be prime minister but more of a collegial coach which fits his leadership style. He’ll delegate much of that to Cantor and the House committee cardinals.
