New Speaker Vows to Share Powera Tricky Proposition
JANUARY 4, 2011
By NAFTALI BENDAVID And PATRICK O'CONNOR
When John Boehner takes over one of the most powerful jobs in Washington this week, he says his first order of business is to make himself less powerful.
On Wednesday the new speaker of the House of Representatives plans to offer a package of rule changes that, he says, will give minority-party members more of a say and decentralize power. In short, Ohio Republican Mr. Boehner is promising he'll be a different figure from many speakers throughout historyfrom Republican Joseph Cannon a century ago to his immediate predecessor, Democrat Nancy Pelosiwho kept a tighter leash.
But there's a reason so many speakers try to keep close control: It works.

That seems to be the default spelling, someone is trying to tell us something.
Yeah, and I remember when the first Bush extended his hand to Democrats upon inauguration and George Mitchell spent the next 4 years working non-stop to embarrass and undermine Bush.
Geez, do these guys EVER learn?
Well thats just mot going to work.
Whats your plan B John?
Trent Lott redux.
.
When good compromises with evil, it is only evil that can profit.
Pelosi and Democrats just spent the last 2 years humiliating Republicans culminating with her gavel walk and now we are talking about sharing power!!!
Boehner is going down the same road that the last Repub majority went down...and it cost them dearly. The Tea Parties and the People need to be all over this. I am writing all my reps (House and Senate) to tell them that any one of them who ponies up to this bar is a target for defeat.
We need reps who will stand on principle and the constitution ALONE. If the other side wants to come join that party...fine...otherwise, no sharing, no pats on the back, no shae and a grin, no behind the scenes friendliness, no joint singing tours, etc., etc.
If they are not there to support the constitution and its principles down the line, they are internal enemies of the people. The Repub leadership had best make THAT its mantra, post haste.
Here’s my email to him:
Mr. Speaker, It has been reported that you feel the need to “SHARE” power with the democrats...If this is true, might I remind you that this was not why you were put into the speakers position! DO NOT share any power with them. The left had many closed door meetings without you and did not SHARE any power with the GOP.
Please be part of the solution and NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM!
keep it polite but firm. (it was hard, wanted to use some "highly technical golf terms" on him)
We WON, you idiots. The Democrats shut the conservatives out in the cold the last four years; it’s time to return the favor. No compromise. Boehner must go.
Apparently he doesn’t want us to call if we aren’t in his District....hmmmmm.
Isn’t he the Speaker of the entire Congress, not just the folks from Ohio?????
I’m not liking him more and more.
Boehner could claim this tack, then shut down the Dems at every turn.
The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.
Obviously, you didn't read the article.

Worth repeating.
Glad to see you up and around Jeff.
Primaries are less than two years away.
Your congressman needs to be reminded of this.
Lord, Lord.
you can still email him...there’s a little link for people out of district at the lower left of the contact page...
