The governor meets a woman sentenced to death for blasphemy

The governor of Pakistan's powerful Punjab province has been killed by one of his own guards at a market in the capital Islamabad, police have said.
It was the most high-profile assassination of a political figure in the country since former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was killed in December 2007.
The latest victim, Salman Taseer, was shot dead by a member of his elite security team after he reached Khosar Market, police said.
Witnesses reportedly claimed a man fired two shots at the governor as he was leaving his vehicle.
One said: "The governor fell down and the man who fired at him threw down his gun and raised both hands."

Mr Taseer was a high-profile member of Ms Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party and a close associate of President Asif Ali Zardari, Ms Bhutto's widower.
He was vocal on a range of subjects, including speaking out against the country's blasphemy law in recent days.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik claimed the governor was probably killed because he opposed that law.
Human rights groups say the legislation is often exploited by religious extremists as well as ordinary Pakistanis to settle personal scores.
Islamist groups have been angry over what they believe were government plans to change or scrap the law.

I advocate annual civil wars for every muslim country. The Americans should have seized the oil fields in Iraq and then stood back and let the multiple Iraqi factions cull themselves. Should do the same in Iran.

I used to think Libtards were merely intellectually deprived, emotionally driven individuals. They were thinking with their hearts, instead of their brains.
But, on sedond thought - I think my first and most obvious conclusion was correct.
They are snivelling, spine-less, gutless, bedwetting cowards. There is nothing they won’t do to cower and hide from evil. Chamberlain wasn’t simply naive’ .... he was a coward - terrified to stand up against evil.
It appears he was perceived as a threat to the Islamic status quo, in that he favored repeal of the “blasphemy laws’ under which a Muslim could be executed for a false utterance.
The article states the law had been “abused” lately to provide an excuse for all kinds of executions for unrelated offenses. So he was a moderate, and was killed for being seen by the fundamentalists as an apostate.
He was trying to stop the madness.
Which is why there is no such thing as “the vast majority of moderate Muslims”.
There are only the murderous fundamentalists and the silent majority behind them who will never oppose the terrorists because they know what will happen to them if they do. Just what happened to this man.
I am so sick and tired of talking heads on the alphabet channels here in the U.S.constantly referring to the “vast majority of moderate muslims in America who only want peace”.
It’s why I won’t listen to Fox News anymore. The media and our own government refuse to see that Muslims in America have only one allegiance, and that is to Islam and the Koran and Sharia law.
They are by definition an enemy presence and they will watch as America is destroyed rather than defend their “new” homeland and rise up against their fellow fundamentalists.
You’ve pretty much (and correctly) wrapped the debate up in a nice Islamic terrorism bow.
The "moderates" will never oppose the fundamentalists for two reasons:
1) The moderates do not want to die and have their families killed as well.There are no real moderates. There are only cowards (and extremists faking being moderates for tactical cover reasons).2) The moderates know that the fundamentalists are practicing true Islam, and fighting them is rebellion against Islam itself.
There are also people who are ethnically Muslim, no longer believe in Islam, but keep a low profile about it because they don't want to be killed as apostates. They MIGHT quietly oppose the extremists by informing on them. Good luck with that after the WikiLeaks leaks outed so many informants.
