Obama visits grandfather's grave in Hawaii

HONOLULU (AP) -- President Barack Obama ended his nearly two-week Hawaiian vacation on a somber note Monday, taking his daughters to visit his grandfather's grave.

The president's motorcade wound through the island of Oahu's mountainous terrain late Monday afternoon on its way to National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.

The Punchbowl is open to all veterans. While most of the burials are of veterans of the Pacific War, Korea, and Vietnam; other conflicts are represented. Stanley Dunham served in the European Theater, not in the Pacific in a non combat job, but a WWII veteran nonetheless.

Wonder why Grandma Dunham wasn't interred with Grandfather Dunham, since there is a place reserved for her, beside him, in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Was it to destroy her DNA?

I've always thought Grandma's alleged ashes that 0hbumma poured into the Ocean looked like five pounds of baking flour.

If your final resting place is a national cemetery like Punchbowl, your remains can be buried, or if cremated..interred. Are you speaking ill of the dead here? If his grandfather is buried in a national cemetery, then he earned that right through his service.

I visited Punchbowl National Cemetery on my way to Japan in 1958. Our ship docked in Honolulu for a day and a half. Took a Gray Line Tour, which included Punchbowl. There are many heroes buried there, including Ernie Pyle. Can’t imagine why a Dunham would be buried there. Is that cemetery open to just anyone?

No, just veterans. And Dunham was a veteran. He's not Obama, let him rest in peace.
