What really hurts, is that IF we had known this when we started, we could have made long range plans for some of this stuff. But, when they start bombing you with these cuts AFTER you have been long retired, what the heck can you do. It is impossible for a lot of 60, 70, 80 year old retirees to get certain types of medical care, etc. The other cuts kill us also. Many retirees chose to retire near military bases. Then when those bases are closed down, the PX, commissary, medical clinics, etc., go away and those people are stuck. I have a retired AF guy in my church. He is 86 years old. Great fellow. But, he says thankfully he does not have to worry about it much longer, but a lot of folks like me will have to. At first our medical care was suppose to be free for life for 20 plus years of service. Now they charge us a monthly fee, plus you pay the CO’s like everyone else. Now the plan is to more than TRIPLE those monthly fees over the next few years. A lot of folks like my friend simply cannot afford that. A lot of these people have their bodies used up. I am only 60 years old. I went for an MRI today. I am facing my THIRD surgery in three years because my body is now breaking down on me. Shoulder and back first and now my knee. Other knee is not far behind. Both hips have damage. So, let's see, if I last to 80, I could face TWO knee replacements and TWO hip replacements. Gee, now where the heck am I going to get the money to pay for those and will Obamacare kill even that as they just give me a few pain pills and say live with it dude, you are a retired military sucker for staying 20 years. I think it is the Dimocrat payback to military people myself for not voting for the bums.
