The U.S. Navy will temporarily relieve Capt. Owen Honors of his post pending investigation of the series of explicit videos he is said to have produced when he was second in command of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, sources tell ABC News.
Capt. Honors is under investigation for a series of raunchy videos in which he appeared from 2006 to 2007. The videos featured a series of skits that aimed to provide some humor during the long deployment at sea. At the time the videos were produced, the Enterprise was operating in support of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
But the skits were clearly offensive to many people. A leaked version of one video, first reported by the Virginian-Pilot newspaper on Saturday, contained derogatory references to homosexuals and was filled with profanity. At one point in the video, Honors introduces a scene in which two female sailors pretend to wash each other in the shower by saying that "chicks in the shower" were his "favorite topic."

there is nothing explicit in any video. I read of this earlier this morning and the offense is about training videos that use humor to make a point.
Captain Honors is being quartered and drawn on the altar of Political correctness.
The real PC sin is that a “gay slur” (probably “faggot” or “queer” or both) is reportedly used someplace in one or more of the videos.
The sacrifice of this American Warrior, who has spent 20+ years of his life and America’s precious military training attaining the position of Captain of a major warship, is the first round in the political correctness wars that will accompany the repeal of DADT.
Inappropriate for an XO to do, but.......blowing off some steam does help morale. It sure seems like some funny shi——shore leave. Squids will be squids, you know.
hehhehhehheh
Hawhoo!
We have sailed into Namby-Pamby Land.
This is silly. Videos about personal hygiene, rules and regulations, medical concerns, etc., were turned into short vignettes that were NEVER inappropriate. The military has long used “close quarters” humor to make a point.
“Sleeping on top of one another” has to be joked about just to break the discomfort associated with the reality of being packed in like sardines. You pack a 1000+ people onto a football field and see if humor doesn’t become an ally.
That’s all this guy was doing.
These are NOT “Hustler videos” and that’s the way they’re being portrayed. Can’t you smell a media hit job when you see it?
This is all about the PC world that follows the repeal of DADT.
It just puts polar bears and all the other denizens of the arctic know that you are a member of the royal order of the blue nose
You nailed it.
Some in this thread believe that this is a suspiciously-timed attack on the skipper and XO of one of the US military's most valuable resources -- a nuclear aircraft carrier -- while I'm sitting here not too surprised that such hijinks happen in the Navy at even the highest levels and that a captain of a fleet carrier would negligently allowed his career to be shitcanned over it thereby placing the readiness of our nation's global power projection at risk because of it.
I say this as a former Marine who saw guys lose rank for having a flipping ballpoint pen in their locker that read 'US GOVERNMENT PROPERTY' on it, it being taken without permission so said the CID investigators, and knew other Marines sent to the brig for minor infractions compared to this Navy comedy video stunt.
I guess some people who served in the US Navy believe that if it's all done in the spirit of fun, just about anything can be overlooked, so why pick on this poor nuclear aircraft carrier and his executive officer? Well, I served in the USMC and have an entirely different understanding of what's tolerated. Maybe other Marines here will know what I'm talking about, and even some Navy personnel.
That is just criminal.
You pretty much encapsulated the entirety of the situation with that post, RetiredArmy... I’ll keep you in my prayers.
Can anyone say “HAG”, Holly A. Graf and “gay” or “lesbian” in the same sentence?
F'ing Navy PC Brass...
Fuqers are going to go after my beloved Shellback initiation next!!!!
/trusty honorable Shellback here.
I've got to disagree with you, when I was in the Air Force like 20 some years ago for every soldier that actually worked there was probably 10 people over him writting reports of how good he was doing his job. I doubt if it's gotten any better.
"Aside from the fact the Honors is likely to lose his job, the only other thing to look at is whats going to happen to the others who were above him in chain of command at that time, Carroll said. "You had the CO (Commanding Officer) of the ship and at least two admirals who were riding the ship as the battle commander at that time. If they didnt know about videos they were negligent.""
From what I saw of the videos, the Commander did a great job of injecting some humor into otherwise mundane shipboard policy.
PC will be the death of us.
I suspect the queers in the military (and the queer CIC) are behind this......the chicks didn’t seem to mind.
I was not able to serve due to physical limitations...
To bring this minor infraction into the public eye is a disgrace.
To me, a civillian, this is something that I do not need to hear nor see anything about.
Yeah, its part of YOUR pussification of our military...
Gee, thanks Obama, you friggin’ Punk..
We already know you hate this country, effff You and all those you have surrounded yourself with, you effin Kenyan...
