The U.S. Navy will temporarily relieve Capt. Owen Honors of his post pending investigation of the series of explicit videos he is said to have produced when he was second in command of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, sources tell ABC News.
Capt. Honors is under investigation for a series of raunchy videos in which he appeared from 2006 to 2007. The videos featured a series of skits that aimed to provide some humor during the long deployment at sea. At the time the videos were produced, the Enterprise was operating in support of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
But the skits were clearly offensive to many people. A leaked version of one video, first reported by the Virginian-Pilot newspaper on Saturday, contained derogatory references to homosexuals and was filled with profanity. At one point in the video, Honors introduces a scene in which two female sailors pretend to wash each other in the shower by saying that "chicks in the shower" were his "favorite topic."

I watched the whole video. It was just people blowing off steam. I don’t see what the big deal is. People need to get thicker skins!

Follow-up: Long ago I considered joining, and the Navy officer programs recruiter took us engineering students to Hooters. We were under age too (20 y.o.). He talked about something called a ‘foamie’ which involved two ladies and bubble bath, which I won’t describe any further. Haha, that kind of talk wouldn’t fly today, would it?

You have no idea how serious he was during his “on duty” shift. You only saw the video of him horsing around on his “offline time”. Some of the best people you want in a battle situation are people who know how to relax and goof around during their off time. Otherwise you end up with humorless schmucks who are so tightly wound that they are a danger to others in a tense situation.
I was talking to my bother in law who is retired army and he said that the guys you want to watch your back during a firefight are the ones who are the most fun during off duty times. He said the ones that are serious all the time end up with stress overload and end up becoming a liability in tense situations because they “snap” a lot easier than those who actually know how to relax.
Now I am not in the military nor will i ever be but this hold true for me and my coworkers as well. those who are constantly serious tend to become dysfunctional in times of stress.
You never served under him so don’t prejudge him on that took place on a small portion of his offline time.
What part of morale and blowing off steam did you miss?
