That is also one of my favorites ....and to think it comes from a writer of mere children’s books

The budget should be balanced. Public debt should be reduced. The arrogance of officialdom should be tempered, and assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome become bankrupt.

Mere Chrisrianity Great book! And Dinesh D'Souza's "What's So Great About Christianity" is a great read also with many references to C.S.s work. Is a terrific argument against atheism also. Tears them to pieces and spits them out.

I ran into another quote attributed to C.S. Lewis the other day, about those who quietly go about destroying the country.
"I live in the Managerial Age, in a world of 'Admin.' The greatest evil is not now done in those sordid 'dens of crime' that Dickens loved to paint. It is not done even in concentration camps and labour camps. In those we see its final result. But it is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice."

A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell. Great one - thanks for sharing.
