Tyranny by decree: Why persuade or vote when you can rule by fiat?
The Washington Times ^ | January 2, 2011 | Robert Knight

Posted on 01/02/2011 9:06:06 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Over the past year, it has become obvious that what leftists cannot win at the ballot box, they will accomplish via bureaucratic dictate. After the U.S. Senate in 2009 rejected the massive cap-and-tax scheme on carbon credits, the Obama administration rode to the rescue of global-warming fanatics. On Dec. 7, 2009, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa P. Jackson issued a ruling that the EPA would begin regulating five "anthropogenic" (man-made) greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, the air we exhale. The EPA based its finding on research from the now discredited U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and rejected at least 10 petitions for reconsideration.

So the EPA is now preparing to hound power plants and refineries by drafting carbon-emissions limits by July 2011, with a final rule due by May 2012. Never mind the faltering U.S. economy and China's growing economic power. The greenhouse gods must be appeased.

Not to be outdone, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in December began regulating the Internet. Ignoring a recent court decision and Congress' pointed refusal to grant the FCC this power, the Democrat-dominated body simply voted 3-2 on Dec. 21 (the darkest day of the year) to adopt "net neutrality" rules.

They stopped just short of redefining the Internet as a telecommunication carrier, much like telephone services. But the FCC's move puts the federal government in a position to begin meddling with content, something the left has salivated over ever since President Obama began stacking the FCC staff with veterans of Marxist Robert McChesney's Free Press think tank and the far-left Center for American Progress.....

I propose we verb them all, and let God sort it out.

It can't be worse.

This has been bothering me for a while. Everyone has been pining and talking about 2012 and all I see is a big middle finger from all of the Dems and Repubs after Nov 2010! Is the ballot box irrelevant?

I wonder how much Barry’s goofyass EPA is going to tax us to exhale.

Is the ballot box irrelevant?

They would chose unwisely if they do that. Because the next choice is much more sanguine.

Ok, he doesn’t bother with passing legislation, instead, he dictates policy. When are we allowed to use the word “dictatorship”?

Constitutional America is dead. Yes, it can be re-established, but at the current time, our government is nothing like it was designed to be. We have been taken over.

They’re taking our rights one at a time.

But since most people don’t use those rights, they don’t care.

For way too long we have stood idly by while the Congress created these agencies and gave them part of the regulatory authority reserved by the Constitution solely for the Congress.

Now the chickens have come home to roost and we don’t like it. Why wasn’t it a priority to stop or terminate these agencies decades ago??

In 2008, during the campaign, I posted here many times that our government was irreparably broken and we needed to start over. At the time, many FReepers argued with me saying that the democratic process would solve everything.

Do we still believe that democratic principles are going to fix this train wreck? Our government is irreparably broken and the only way to fix it is to dissolve the current government, hit the reset button, keep the best of the laws and amendments in the Constitution, add a few tweaks and start over!! The democratic process cannot and will not fix the damage done by irresponsible and indifferent politicians. Only the people can.

All is not yet lost.

Just as REAGAN took down the once-mighty Soviet Union...

...PALIN will restore Constitutional government here, God willing.

saying that the democratic process would solve everything.

Maybe not, but nor would pressing the reset button. There are too many dumb people and manipulators around.

"I wonder how much Barry’s goofyass EPA is going to tax us to exhale."

Not so much, once the ball goes up... I tend to hold my breath right when I... ...never mind. If O'Bumwad and the Left continue to ignore the rather emphatic message in last November's vote, and just keep trudging us off toward Kamchatka anyway, chances are things might get kinda hectic. They really don't want to prove to us that our votes have absolutely no effect. They might not know it just yet, but they really don't.

They'd do well to pick a fight they can win, because they just can't win this one. No matter how you dice it, we honestly have 'Kkaki and his tone-deaf toe-suckers outmanned about 140-to-1.

Trust me, Kkak, you don't want to take those odds. There is no vig. We'll send you and the nasty Wook back to Kenya so fast your "flaps down" carpet-melon will spin like a dreidel. You'll never even get to see, much less enjoy, the day of wild celebration we'll name after you and your similarly summarily-exiled coup-mrades.

In case you hadn't noticed, America is getting damn tired of your imperial edicts. Feelin' us, home-slice?

We the people should tyrannize the government. Peacefully—by doing away with the IRS, dept of education, energy, EPA, and many more.

Repeal the 16th Amendment, and get rid of payroll taxes.

Then establish the fair tax.

DO NOT PUT YOUR FAITH IN MAN, put your faith in God. The way to make the system better is to put the government back within the constraints of the Constitution. Even if you have a perfect storm of a Palin Presidency, and Republican majority in the House, and 65 Senators, eventually they will retire or lose office.

The system is set up so we have to look for a new "savior" every 2-4 or 6 years. In the view of the founders, all we needed was an honorable man.

We used to have a system that DID NOT ALLOW one branch or another to ride roughshod over the other. We need to pinpoint how and why the branches of govt are colluding with each other and control it. Probably by taking away the deduction for political donations. End the possibility of paid lobby. Get rid of govt unions.

Just as REAGAN took down the once-mighty Soviet Union...

True. But the "once-mighty Soviet Union" didn't hold a candle to the duplicitousness or deception of the US Congress. Even Abraham Lincoln warned us that America would never be conquered by a foreign nation, but from within.

Obama, the Congress, leftists, Democrats and RINOs are proving him prescient.

I agree, however, when we look at the iron-clad methodologies used by zero, Reed and Pelousy to force their leftist agenda down the throats of the majority of the voters who opposed it, there are few remedies open to us. The 'Pubbies Zerocare and, despite the fact that bills like Cap and Tax failed to clear the Congress, the EPA is planning to force the same regulation down our throats. The FCC is going to regulate the Internet despite the fact that Americans oppose such a move.

In short, our government is out of control and working against the people who own that government. When your government is out of control and doesn't respond to the owners, what remedies do you see to prevent the third-worldization of America?? The power or the will is absent from the politicians who created this mess.
