The article reports on the numbers of combat deaths in Afghanistan, but calls these figures “casualties”. The word “casualties” has a very specific meaning: the sum of Killed in Action, Died of Wounds, Wounded, and Missing in Action. So, a combat death is a casualty, but “casualties” refers to all of the categories.

When journalists file reports on the war and yet do not have the slightest understanding of the terms that they bandy about, they lose all credibility with me.

We would have this pounded home to us everyday if the President was a republican.

By the way, didn’t the dems want to photograph the coffins when Bush was President? Now they have the chance but of course, they won’t do that now.

I get sick thinking about these poor troops with a wussy boy who wants us to lose as CIC.

I recommend watching the movie Restrepo for those that have Netflix online mode. It is a documentary of a 15 month deployment in Korengal Valley.

I’m hopeful that Petraeus will be able to pull this thing together, but without Pakistan’s genuine cooperation it’s going to be a tough one.

How can this be? ‘The One,’ Won!

Why, everything is Rainbows, Lollipops and Winged-Unicorns pooping skittles!

No one suffers! No one dies!

So, we lose one Soldier every time Obama makes a Double Bogey.

As with Gas Prices, Wikileaks, Unemployment, whatever, does anyone else notice the complete lack of outrage against the Bamster that would have been daily fodder in the Media if Bush was still the POTUS?

The manipulation of the ignorant masses is beyond my comprehension. The same energy used to vilify and promote outright hatred against Bush is now being focused on the fact that poor Obama still got his wonderful programs through despite the opposition of those mean Republicans.

I have a problem with this article, and all articles like it; it reports only our casualties, omitting those of our enemy.
