The last Republican mayor, Louis Miriani, left office on January 2, 1962. I’m sure the MSM has never written about that bit of coincidence.

That is a remarkable series of photographs. Eerie indeed. Thank you for the link.

Almost like a plague swept through quickly - aka the plaugue or liberalism.

Exactly. That is precisely what struck me about these images--It is as if the residents fled before an onslaught of some sort.

And this can be laid directly at the feet of democrats and unions. You should see the welfare you can receive in Michigan. It’s unreal.

I was born and raised on the west side of Detroit. Now, when axed where I’m from, I simply say “Stalingrad West.” That requires no further explanation.

It is as though the city had been sacked by the Vandals

Worse, its been run by liberal democrats for decades. No vandal could do as much damage to a city as liberalism.

“...into refurbished city owned residences in thriving neighborhoods.”

Thriving neighborhoods? You sound like a lib propagandist.

Dave Bing is correct to level the city. I watched one TV video and a beaver was building a dam on a stream. Get rid of the human animals and leave it to real animals who are far less destructive and far more productive.

Yep, Detroit in RUINS! (Crowder goes Ghetto) is the single best explanation of what happens when unions and liberals take control.
I highly recommend folks watch it.
Shocking, sickening and probably coming soon to a neighborhood near you.

They use double decker bus’s and go to Minnesota where they get better welfare benefits we see them on I-94 all the time. Problem is they welcome them which is one of the reason’s we moved out of the Twin Cities.

When it is welcomed by the majority there is little you can do except leave. I expect more large liberal cities to go the way of Detroit it’s just a matter of time.

It’s true.

There is no other reason. None.

Yes, yes, we can all agree that Detriot (intentionally misspelled) is a disaster. The writing was on the wall for perceptive people after the 1967 riots. And most of us understand the reasons for this horrific decline. We all know that the major reason is one that we cannot state, even here on FR.

Yes, Unions have been a major contributor to this calamity. You cannot have wages and compensation far above economic reality indefinitely. That's what leads to business failure. It creates a cost structure that CANNOT be sustained. But after talking to the average person, I can tell you what they will say. They will blame it on bad management and greed. It's the "one size fits all" argument of a liberal.

Or how about, the failure of Detriot is because we didn't have enough government programs and didn't throw enough money at the problems. I'd bet a years salary that is what the liberals would say about the problem.

No, I'm afraid that Detroit is a symptom of a much larger problem. We cannot begin to address that problem until we admit to it. I had a close fried who is winning his battle with alcohol. He told me that until he finally admitted the problem (to himself) he never got around to solving it. This is what we face here in Detroit. And Detroit is becoming a synonym for the rest of the country. California is next.

If you want to see anything ruined, just put liberals in charge of it. We’ve seen example after example of this at virtually every level of government.

The only problem with this is that the people living in that slum will move to other cities and destroy them also. The country needs to come down on these people and come down hard on them.

An excellent comment. I've actually seen this first hand. The problem is Section 8 housing and unwed mothers. That's a mechanism for destroying neighborhoods nationwide. Of course this is a program created by liberals in the Democrat Party.
