NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two men walked into a packed east Nashville restaurant and robbed it at gunpoint, forcing 40 people to the ground.
Metro police said around 11 p.m. Wednesday, two men with what looked like pantyhose over their heads walked into the Holland House on West Eastland Avenue.
One of the suspects was holding a sawed off shotgun and the other had a handgun.
About 40 customers were forced onto the floor.
"When you have someone willing to come in and try and control 30 to 40 people in any type of setting, obviously there's a propensity for violence in those acts," Metro Police Capt. Chris Taylor said. "Just if by chance if they make a mistake, have their finger on the trigger and it goes off, the chances of somebody getting hurt are 10 fold."
The men stole some of the customers' items but focused mainly on the restaurant's money.
"The first thing that came to mind was, ‘Are my neighbors OK, was my staff OK.' Thankfully everyone was," owner of Holland House Terrell Raley said.

What makes all of Nashville a crime ridden Hell Hole is the fact that the Crack Dealers and Prostitutes are protected by Mayor Karl Dean and District Attorney Torry Johnson. The Police Chief Ronal Serpas was running a protection racket for the drug dealers. Nashville Judge Tom W. Brothers was indicted for drug money laundering.
Nashville is the 7th Most Dangerous City in America.

I finally got the answer. The owner carries and CC is allowed in the restaraunt. The owner was not there at time of the robery.
Looks like the Pied Piper Eatery may have been hit by the same guys. Something is probably going to end badly with those two.

Wardaddy’s review of the area is spot-on. Belmont is a great school and growing fast. Nashville is safe unless you know where to go looking for trouble.
I live in the Hillsboro-West End neighborhood. They’re all social-justice types around here (and nearby Belmont) but commuting is a snap, you can walk to dozens of great restaurants/markets and the trees are large, numerous and shady.

Thanks. I’ve been told by some faculty members already there to consider the Franklin, Brentwood, and Mt. Juliet areas for commuting purposes. How quick would the commute be from Hillsboro?

The drive from anywhere in the Hillsboro-West End neighborhood (HWEN) to Belmont Univ. is about 5 minutes. A little more during rush hour but not much. It’s just south of Vanderbilt Univ. and on the other side (west) of 21st Avenue South from Belmont Univ. and neighborhood.
Sylvan Park, a little farther east, is another popular nearby neighborhood with a fairly wide range of home prices. Type “sylvan park nashville” in the Zillow search and you’ll find it. Homes there that are closer to Murphy Road are better than those closer to Charlotte Ave where minor crime can be a problem but is decreasing. This was true over ten years ago — might be a non-issue now.
People with kids in grades K-4 like to live around HWEN/Belmont for Eakin School (public school w/ lots of smarty-pants university faculty kids, lol) but other than that, I believe Williamson County (Brentwood and Franklin) public schools are considered better.
I’ve heard that the commute to Nashville from the south (Brentwood, Franklin) or east (Mt. Juliet) is less of a hardship than from the west in places like Bellevue.
And then there are downtown lofts or farms or places near one of the 2 lakes or Al Gore’s exclusive Belle Meade to consider.

it's the same neighborhood...like from Canal st to Washington Square but not as flat if you know Manhattan
The I-65 south commute can be rough...some studies say we have the longest commute time in the US....I drive a lot...from south Williamson county below Franklin to West Nashville and then to Lakewood area in NW Nashville and then on to Hermitage, Mt Juliet and Lebanon ..all to the east and then back across 57 miles from Lebanon to South Williamson...5-7 days a week...to supervise my businesses
125-150 miles a day
most folks here probably do 15-30 mile commute each way
Mt Juliet is easy...I think...I-40 east
Pegram and west Nashville...Kingston Springs etc....not too bad..gotten better...I-40 west
I-65 north...Goodlettesville-Joelton-Ridgetop-Hendersonville and all to the north with I-65 north and I-24 north splitting can be awful but it has improved..still though...it used to be brutal
I-24 SE to Murfreesboro...much better than before...widened like all highways here...but can still be rough if there is a wreck
I-65 south...sometimes easy....other times it's an Anaconda of snarl...I know this one..it's mine...I often avoid it from Lebanon and take I-840...southern outer loop
the traffic times differ too...some are earlier..bluecollar and some are later for white collar folks
I moved out rural and wish I had long ago...but that's me...I spent 12 years in a fancy part of town (Tyne Blvd-Green Hills) and never fit in..only met 2-3 neighbors who weren't MSNBC style loons
out here..it's easy..my kids love it and most of our neighbors..some distance away...are just likie us
old school traditional values...you hear deer hunting sounds or a dove hunt and you just grin
it's like I grew up and I feel more at home now than since I was a boy in Mississippi
I just wished I coulda got “Mrs Douglas” to go further out and get more land and less house
our boys ride 4-wheelers and dirt bikes and hunt squirrels with their plinkers and we have a big Little Rascals style bulldog...it's perfect as I've seen in many a year
and close enough to those other nearly 2 million folks around here to get what we need and the schools are not bad...

I don't fault folks who live in town...were most Nashvillians circa 2011 like they were 30 years ago then I would probably still live in town...but they are not...it all kind of came as a slow shock to me how a once truly southern town could get so un-southern and trendy lib so quick...not for me.
All that travel info should really come in handy when we start house hunting in earnest. Based on what I’ve seen on realtor.com, the housing costs look very similar to our current area (just outside Greensboro, NC). Thanks.

My cousin and his wife are in Kernersville and love it.
I really love this area (NC) and would be content to live here for the rest of my life, but it doesn’t look like my job is going to allow for that. Plus, Belmont seems like a very good opportunity, and I’ve heard a lot of great things about Nashville, so I’m looking forward to it.
