Count me as one of many who can’t understand how she managed to get two shows. I understand the semi-homeade concept, but it isn’t a level of cooking that needs a show.

I found Avec Eric on Hulu this week and that is one of the best food preparation shows I think I have seen. Eric Ripert (Top Chef, LeBernadin) goes out where the food is grown or wine is produced and you get a mini lesson in agriculture, then he ties it to a featurette in his restaurant, and a recipe for the home chef. And LOTS of wine. I have actually made food from this show and am considering buying the DVD’s.

That show isn’t on any cable network and that’s sad because it’s really good.

Eric Ripert is a real genuine chef unlike Sandra Lee. I think he was on an Anthony Bourdain show. Bourdain is not a chef these days. His shows were much better a few years ago. I don’t watch them anymore. Too formulaic.

One of his shows years ago was hilarious. He was in a market in Vietnam and the cooks improvised old automobile hubs into cook stoves and grilling rigs

I am quite familar with Eric Ripert because of Anthony Bourdain’s ‘No Reservations’ and also Top Chef. Did you see Ripert recently on the 100th episode of No Reservations? It was a great show, although the quality of the series has declined in the last couple of seasons.

I appreciate the tip and will look it up on Hulu soon. I am surely in the minority, being a man that likes to try new recipes after recording cooking shows.

Generally I fast-forward through them to get the gist of the recipe and whether I’d like to try it. That is, unless it’s a really interesting show like what you describe...or I am watching Nigella. hehe.

You need to catch Ramsay on Fword as well. That is an instructional and entertaining show and GR is actually a decent and humorous guy despite how American TV forces him to act.

We saw Eric Ripert on PBS the other day, after having previously seen him in some episodes of “No Reservations.” Lovely food, very nice manners, and such a cute accent!

I love seeing the places Anthony Bourdain goes, but he is a very angry and bitter person. I feel sorry for him. Probably it’s because he’s a New Yorker.
