In Kentucky, Juan Andres, the father of a U.S. Marine about to be deployed to Afghanistan, could soon be deported after being arrested earlier this month, but immigration officials are giving him the chance to ask for permanent residency. The 41-year-old father of five has been in this country for over 25 years. He is originally from Guatemala, and as a result of a kind gesture, he now faces deportation to his native Guatemala.
So while Andres son, Lance Cpl. Aspar Andres, prepares to leave for Marine boot camp then head to Afghanistan, his father begins a fight of his own.
All of Andres problems began on December 9th, when he escorted his friend to the immigration office in Louisville in order to be his translator. Upon entering, an official suspected that Andres was not in the country legally, and had him arrested.
Ron Russell, Andres immigration attorney, has begun collecting letters in support of Andres, including letters from his children, friends, and employers.
Though it is unusual for immigration officials to grant an arrested undocumented immigrant the chance to apply for a green card, Andres was granted time to get a case together. To gain legal status he has to prove he is of good moral character, has been in the country at least 10 years, and prove that deportation would cause great distress.
Russell believes Andres can easily prove the first two, and says Andres should be okay on the 3rd proof since his children are all citizens and he is the familys main money-maker.
While Andres and Russell were hoping to have more time to get everything together, they only have until the end of today (Dec. 29th) to file evidence with immigration officials.
Frankly Juan Andres is the type we need to keep. It’s the gang banging, dope running, welfare nannies that need to go. It’s not even a fine line......
Who pays the attorney’s of these illegals fighting deportation when they are caught?
Confusing is right!
I’m still trying to figure out how this kid made Lance BEFORE going to Boot Camp. It didn’t work out that way for me when I was in.
As to his Dad......
Deport the mofo and then let him get in line to come back. Or, shoot him for trespassing. I don’t care if his son makes Commandant before he stands his first CG inspection.
One of my sons is a cop. Hot damn! I get to do whatever I wanna do.
So, if I rob a bank, wait 25 years and have a child in the Military, I can keep the money and avoid jail with a few letters saying what a great guy I am?
Imagine that the reporter has no clue about the military and the original article was translated from Spanish.....kind of like news from the MSM.......the kid in the pic is a Marine.
There have been a couple of amnesties since he entered the country illegally, which makes me suspect there is something else going on here.
He was eligible for the last amnesty, so what was he thinking?
“Frankly Juan Andres is the type we need to keep.”
Um, WHY? Because he isn’t a drug smuggler?
He’s a law-breaker and a liar and has been every day day since he broke in. Dig a little and you’ll probably find document fraud, too. Whose social security number is he using?
Legal immigration should be stopped for at least twenty years. Every single job should go to an American. Every single slot in every American university, grad school, and public elementary and high school should go to an American.
At the very least, citizenship should not be for sale, not even at the price of military service.
Well, yes. There will be illegals, choosing productive ones over useless immigrants from say....somolia, might help.....ya think?
BTW, you’re trolling...
Frankly Juan Andres is the type we need to keep.
It seems to me that we have an over-abundance of this kind of shitbird already.
Tax cheats in charge of the IRS.
Racists in charge of the Justice Department.
Communists sitting on our Supreme Court.
Perverts running TSA.
Degenerates in the Department of Education.
UAW thugs in charge of two auto companies.
I could go on and on, but I won’t.
I have no grievance with formal arrangements ahead of time (not amnesties) where someone who is a citizen of a friendly country may serve in the U.S. forces in exchange for an expedited naturalization. Why should the people who waltz across the border without so much as a by-your-leave spoil things for everybody else?
exactly. Trying to make sob story out of a bad decision.
colonel, USAFR
Nice list, but those jobs are already filled by home grown liberals.....and none of their sons are in the military. So what is your point?
Apparently he is a Marine. The article we were commenting on, seemened to erroneously put “boot” in front of the word “camp”. In addition I doubt he could possibly with certainty know prior boot camp that what his orders will be, let alone that he will be almost immediately deployed to Afghanistan.
It isn’t a fine line. You’re either here legally or you are not.
“BTW, youre trolling...”
I see this phrase on FR a lot, but I don’t know what it means.
How about we deploy him and his family back to Guatamala and send back one of our Green Berets for each one of the family. Maybe these illegal invaders can help to secure their borders from the Zetas instead of our “silent” troops.
