New York City sanitation bosses think they've got it so bad that they intentionally delayed snow-removal, according to the NY Post.So how bad have they got it? City workers enjoyed steady employment through the recession, killer benefits and a generous pension package. Then there's the pay. 315 sanitation workers earned over $100,000 in 2009, according to SeeThroughNY. The top guy, John Doherty, earned $205,180.There are also perks that come with the job.

We need to make a public list of all the salaries of government workers
If sanitation workers are making over 100 grand then who else is?
and if i’m not mistaken, the pensions pay out at something like 85% of the workers highest salary, or something close to that. i think that is the killer!
They’re like ticks on a dog...
Great idea.
I think that we could start a thread first. Collect information, then build an inexpensive website.
It could be organized by city, state, and federal. List the name, job, salary, and approx. future pension. In the case of politicians, it could also include cushy jobs acquired before and after their political careers, how much they were paid.
It's about time the fat pigs were put on a diet.
Isn’t sanitation worker groupspeak for Garbage Man?
Pray for the Tea Party Congress

I’m a high school English teacher, and I can predict the end of this story.
At some point in the near future, my employer will come up to me and tell me, “I’ve got good news and bad news.”
“The good news is that you’ve still got your job.”
“The bad news is that you’re getting a 30 percent pay cut.”
I’m not writing that to elicit pity. In fact, like I wrote to Alberta’s Child a few days ago, I have been broke the point of nothing twice in my life, and my wife comes from a country without welfare and unemployment entitlements, so I’m ready. The sad truth is that public employees are vastly overpaid, and I see it every day at work. The sad reality is those of us who are actually coming to the position with a work ethic will be swept away with all the wastrels. C’est la vie. There will be a lot of suffering with my colleagues in big homes with new boats and fancy trucks. We’ll hunker down and do all right.
The first thing that should happen is taking unions out of public employment. The union which supposedly represents me has done enormous damage to the schools. I would imagine that same kind of damage has taken place in government employment, too. The second thing that should happen is massive transfer of government activity into the private sector. For instance: our local city-owned utility has four times the number of people than a similar-sized private utility. I’m paying for all those wages and benefits.
In fact, given a choice, I’d love to see the elimination of tenure and government schools. While the latter may happen, the former will probably never occur. I’ll take an annual contract over lifetime job protection for lousy teachers, though.
This can’t last forever. The massive firings should commence sometime soon. A shame I’ll be hit along with everyone else.
Interesting site, but not very user friendly. You have to not only put in the position, and year, but also the name to get the info. It is also for New York state only.
It would require going through every job and looking at the pay rates. If one is looking at the fattest of the cats, it does not help.
It is a good place to start.
Hey folks, yeah NYC is a Commie Sinkhole, but check out the financial shenanigans occuring on YOUR backs, in your OWN local fire departments, local governments and schools.

the Des Moines Register publishes the names and salaries of every state employee, from the $300,000 + MDs in the Iowa medical School, on down to the lowliest clerk in the Department of Agriculture.

Then what?
See if people get angry enough to do something about it.
According to that site there are 92 pages, 250 per page, that made over $100K last year...
I would not worry too much. I good teacher will find a job.
Most Americans have been broke ‘to the point of nothing’, myself included. It is going around.
Yes. There must be cuts. The teachers unions are going to face a day of reckoning. It is also, the other unions too. The union movement must realize that they can only shape the public debate to a certain point. There is serious blowback now. People do not like being bullied.
Thanks for posting another story about bloated government employee salary and benefits.
Until the voters get weary of hearing how much their government employees are taking home, they will continue electing the politicians that make this happen.
The voters need to get mad. And they are not mad yet.
Again thanks for posting.
