HONOLULU, Hawaii -- After failing to get climate-change legislation through Congress, the Obama administration plans on pushing through its environmental policies through other means, and Republicans are ready to put up a fight.
On Jan. 2, new carbon emissions limits will be put forward as the Environmental Protection Agency prepares regulations that would force companies to get permits to release greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.
Critics say the new rules are a backdoor effort to enact the president's agenda on global warming without the support of Congress, and would hurt the economy and put jobs in jeopardy by forcing companies to pay for expensive new equipment.
"They are job killers. Regulations, period -- any kind of regulation is a weight on economy. It requires people to comply with the law, which takes work hours and time, which reduces the profitability of firms. Therefore, they grow more slowly and you create less jobs," said environmental scientist Ken Green of the conservative American Enterprise Institute.

“Republicans would be mind bogglingly stupid to duck this fight, especially when they know that they will have to cut off the deficit spending firehose that is Obama’s life line.”
True, but “mind bogglingly stupid” is their historical default mode.
By “fight” do they mean roll over and ask for scraps? :)
I hope they take it to the mat. It will be interesting to see how the new Congress acts.... I have optimistic feelings, but I remember some talking about how awesome and conservative Scott Brown was going to be. Gives me the shivers. Optimistic though.
I never knew a man that did not take the opportunity to step on a cockroach when he had the chance....until I met the Congressional Republicans.
Defund the EPA and the FCC!
Rule of man, not of laws. Don't expect the RINOs to do anything about it.
The constitution is stone cold dead, a worthless piece of paper.
Climategate U-turn as scientist at centre of row admits: There has been no global warming since 1995
Don’t just defund them. Defang them. Repeal all the legal means they’ve relied upon to make these power grabs.
More evidence that Obama and his confederates in and around DC are marching to their own destruction if Republicans don’t stop them.
And so the final battle for America is underway.
These permits issued will be the result of money being exchanged to someone, or political favors? If your corporation or state utility happens to be an antagonist to the administration, you'll be denied permits?
Yeah I believe that!
Will they fight like they did on the tax deal or the START deal?
Republicans are socialists too, that’s why you don’t get it.
Count on that, yes. Just like Obamacare.
To put it simply, the Obama administration wants to hold the economy hostage. And old people too, with his death panels.
Algore says that snow and ice is rapidly diminishing around the world...I sure hope he jets into NYC to offer that opinion, as it would bring a convenient end to our Algore problem. Even liberal New Yawkers have figured out that this is the BS con job of the century. Of the last TWO centuries!
We should all carefully consider the consequences of this move by the 0bama Regime. At this point, under these terms 0bama has become not the President...but a dictator. Actions like this, on this scale, against the will of the duly elected representatives of ...WE the People dangerously invalidates the ballot box.
The issuing of Rules and Regulations without the consent of the governed is...treason in office?
Defund EPA, EDU, and all other non-Constitutional organizations within the Federal government, just to start with.
First order of business is to require that all democrazies rats must stop breathing!
