I agree his crimes were horrible, but the man did not escape punishment. He served time in prison and came out repenting his sins. That seems to be a good thing to me. People can change and prison time is a life-changing event, don’t you think? You don’t have to like him, but your comments are asinine.
“He served time in prison and came out repenting his sins.”
a) an NFL bruiser with street savvy/experience - I’d bet a year and a half wasn’t as life-changing for him as for other smaller, less aggressive, non-minority types.
b) does he really “repent” his sins or just that he got caught and spanked? Only God knows, but I’ve got my opinion, and it’s the latter.
c) regarding WayneS’ post about changing his “behavior” - behavior is a relatively superficial thing compared to changing one’s heart, which I think only God can do. The callous sadism and cruelty against innocent, helpless creatures that Vick played out time after time after time is unthinkable, sickening and heartbreaking.
Yes, I agree with all who’ve posted that animals shouldn’t be placed above humans - but evil against any innocent is always despicable. When it’s calculated against people, the death penalty shouldn’t be ruled out. Against animals, maybe a life sentence shouldn’t be ruled out as well.
A year and a half in either jail OR prison isn’t nearly enough for a guy like Vick, AND he gets to go back to the privilege of NFL stardom??? AND he makes the incredible comment that he’d like to have a dog one day???
That’s like a pedophile who’s “paid his debt to society” and who “repents his sin” saying he’d like to adopt a child one day.
He came out CLAIMING to repent his sins.
Because he wanted to get back to where he could make some real money.
The kind of extended cruelty by Vick makes me think there’s a big gaping hole where a soul should be.
I don’t believe in this repentence any more than I believe Obama is sorry for spending 20 years in a church that hates white people and America.
