My dear...it only STARTS with animals. I don’t agree he should be put to death, but he should NEVER be in a position of ANYONE looking up to him; but rather, spending his entire life with head bowed, with NO notariety, and every day trying to make up for what he did!

Why do you think someone that thinks very little of Michael Vick condones violence towards humans? That doesn’t make sense.

In other words, he accepted personal responsibility for his own actions

Oh please. The man didn't even think he was doing anything wrong. He only owned up because there was really no other choice. As for his changing ways, what other course of action could he take? Preposterously maintain his innocence and live in poverty?

I certainly don't think he deserves execution, and I do think he's paid his price and is entitled to earn a living with his talents. But someone who treats dogs as he did without any hesitation is a morally reprehensible human being worthy of lifelong contempt, in my opinion.

Because they make a LOT more noise about, and issue a LOT more attacks on, Michael Vick than they do other sports stars who rape women, kill pedestrians while driving drunk, involve themselves in shootings outside hotels on Super Bowl weekends and other things which only affect hunman beings, that’s why.

And you’re right, it DOESN’T make sense to value animals over humans. That is the point I was making.

I’m not the biggest dog lover, but Vick is a criminal POS. Just because he can play ball everyone has given him absolution. Even the President of the United States.

I will take some hyperbole from Chatsworth Osborn over anything this creep Vick does any day.

If Vick was a moderately successful used car salesman, would anyone look at him as anything less than he really is, a thug?

...it only STARTS with animals

So, pray tell, what other crime did Michael Vick commmit for which he should hang his head in shame FOREVER?

“So, it’s perfectly logical for Mr. Vick to be vilified for the rest of his life (despite the fact that all indications are he really HAS changed his ways), while other sports figures-turned-crimainals (rapists, armed robbers, drug dealers and man-slaughterers/murderers) are forgiven and their crimes forgotten. Perfectly ‘logical’, that is, IF you are some kind of whacked-out, liberal, human-hating, animal-worshipping, moon-bat.”

Stop. Making. Sense.

Wayne, that was an excellent post. You’ve definitely set the bar on this thread for clear, and logical thinking.

I too like dogs, our little Bamboo is a lot of fun. I am starting to feel a bit guilty though - often we have too many guppies in the aquarium, we give many away but at times we dump 20 or so down the toilet.

"Michael Vick is the scum of the earth. It doesn't matter how well he plays football, he is a man who repeatedly chose to perpetrate indescribable horror on the helpless. He didn't make a one-time mistake; the man is pure, calculated evil."

"I agree with Tucker Carlson."

Me too.

“Why would PETA forgive this guy?”

It’s all about money. Vick probably promised some face time with Peta and their causes. Vick promises a commercial or an ad with his ugly face on it and Peta is just fawning. LESSON: You can do a lot of bad thing IF you have athletic ability.

"defenseless pets like Labradors and Collies that are used to train these dogs"

I shudder to think how scumbags like Vick come to get ahold of these helpless companion animals. Do they breed them, steal them, or "adopt" them from witless owners and agancies? We have occasional dognappings in our community...it makes me wonder.

BTW, someone torturing my dog to death is one of a very few things that would cause me to commit a violent crime. My dogs are family.

I agree his crimes were horrible, but the man did not escape punishment. He served time in prison and came out repenting his sins. That seems to be a good thing to me. People can change and prison time is a life-changing event, don’t you think? You don’t have to like him, but your comments are asinine.

You have Dobie Gillis (Dwayne Hickman} pictured. Chatsworth was played by Steve Franken.
