MANATEE, Fla. (AP) — A group of unruly teenagers attacked a 27-year-old Marine and his wife who had asked them to be quiet during a Christmas night showing of "Little Fockers."
The attack happened as the couple left the theater near Bradenton Saturday night. Authorities say the fight attracted about 300 bystanders.
Federico Freire, home on leave from Afghanistan, says they left the theater shortly after the teens were asked to leave.
The couple was kicked and punched in the parking lot before a gun-brandishing witness told the crowd to step back just before deputies arrived.

Oh yeah one other thing. If he hadn’t gone to see “Little Fockers” and had gone to see “The King’s Speech” instead he probably would have missed out on being assaulted and would have seen an absolutely stunning movie. After having seen it Sunday it’s on my top ten list for sure, maybe my top five, and I’m sure it has a different market than “Little Fockers”.

Yeah, I'm wondering just how many of those little fockers a combat experienced marine was able to drop hand to hand before the armed citizen risked his ccw to brandish the crowd back.... Me, I'm less likely to draw because of the risk to my ccw and more likely to wade in from behind as a dirty trickster because if you ain't cheating you ain't winning as Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch likes to say. It's amazing how much damage you can inflict when the subject is unaware of the threat because he's interested in his own fight. Knees, arms, even necks can be broken very easily and rapidly. Especially if you blend with the crowd, before they can become aware of your presence. Blend, defend the primary target of the attack (the marine & his lady) and then fade away into the night...

I would have a hard time blending into that mob if reports are accurate.
I don’t think that Paul Anka had her in mind when he sang “You Are My Destiny”.
That’s because the kids know nothing will “really” happen to them. First one to take a .45acp thru the forehead, and the others will decide real quick that they don’t want to play that game. “One riot, one ranger”.
The difficulty with blending anymore is you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting some surveillance camera or another.

I teach in an inner city high school in Miami Dade County and I have for about 14 years. Destiny McNeil is exactly the demographic I face every day. A couple of years ago a teacher in my school was jumped outside his classroom and his jaw broken in three places. He never returned to the system and he was a great teacher. If they'll attack an armed police officer, what do you think they'll do to a teacher? They have no respect for any sort of authority. None. By "they" I'm not referring to the good kids, the ones who want to learn and graduate and get into college. I'm referring to the animals who come to school so they can prey on others and victimize teachers, knowing they'll never be properly punished by a liberal school system. It sickens me. Thank the Lord, I'm edging closer and closer to retirement before I take one of them out. That's the main reason I'm untouched. I always show my kids at the start of the year a slide presentation combined with movies of me in the army from long ago as well as recent stuff of me competing in IDPA matches and my Aikido training classes. Most of 'em just don't like the odds when they see 'em. After the last attack my kids all asked me if I was now "afraid to come to work?" To which I replied thusly in a sad and tired tone: "Look, I'm too young to die and too old to take an A$$ whuppin' so .... I'm just gonna KILL ya!" Their eyes were the size of dinner plates and one whispered: "Yeah, we sorts thought you'd say that." And that's all. But I think I've done my time in the 'Hood. I need to get out before it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.
Did you notice that one of the commentors at that site is claiming to be the marine’s wife, Kalyn? Interesting reading....
The three hundred bystanders should have encircled , charged, and beat the snot out of the utes, putting the boot to them while on the ground, and otherwise whip them good, but in this society, that is no longer expected or allowed.

That it did not end bad for the Marine and his wife made the reporter mad as a wet sitting hen. Hence the description of the good samaritan.

That same sort of thing happened during the Cincinnati Riots of April, 2001, on a smaller scale. It got almost no national coverage, but was well-covered here at Free Republic. There are some links on my FR links page to the threads about those events, but older threads no longer display and return an error message.
Of course, the Cincy Riots of Spring 2001 were completely overshadowed by events of that Fall, and were largely forgotten by the few who even heard about them nationally (though I’m sure the locals remember it well). Nevertheless, the societal problems and fault lines still remained.
I would say that they were.
