MANATEE, Fla. (AP) A group of unruly teenagers attacked a 27-year-old Marine and his wife who had asked them to be quiet during a Christmas night showing of "Little Fockers."
The attack happened as the couple left the theater near Bradenton Saturday night. Authorities say the fight attracted about 300 bystanders.
Federico Freire, home on leave from Afghanistan, says they left the theater shortly after the teens were asked to leave.
The couple was kicked and punched in the parking lot before a gun-brandishing witness told the crowd to step back just before deputies arrived.

The victims of this attack were lucky an armed bystander came forward to assist them.
Those silly unruly Amish youth...
whacha gonna do?
uh, well, that altercation could have gone alot of ways that aren’t elaborated upon.
“Five teens were arrested, including a 17-year-old who struck a deputy and was stunned by a Taser.”
He was lucky as well as stupid.
“a gun-brandishing witness”
With a cool head.
A big plus for ‘us’.
Funny way to describe someone that possibly/probably saved the marine and his wife's life,
Three cheers for the “gun-brandishing witness”!
“Authorities say the fight attracted about 300 bystanders.”
When the numbers become that large, you have to wonder if the bystanders had crossed a line and were cheering the yutes on...
Yeah, and this is one reason I don’t go to the movies. Bad manners, people won’t shut up, they try to text and talk on their cell phones, if you ask them to knock it off they get ugly. Forget it, I can wait to see most things at home.
That person deserves a medal. Seriously.
That is liberal speak for "The good guy"
I don’t know, I betting the Marine was just getting warmed up. Too bad he didn’t have a squad with him.
The problem is,
you can be arrested and lose your CCW for “brandishing” a gun.
The laws are pretty dumb in that you really have to shoot somebody if you show your carry weapon in order to avoid a “brandishing” charge.

As they exited the theatre just before 10 p.m., Kayln Freire was surrounded by about 15 girls who looked as if they were going to attack her, Federico Freire said.
A witness said he had a firearm in his vehicle and offered to escort the couple to safety. Federico Freire said he told his wife to go with the witness to get her out of harms way.
Seven males then surrounded Federico Freire and began to kick and punch him.
...When Freire looked over at his wife, he saw a young male with his shirt off who punched her in the face, knocking her out. Freire went after the youth and the witness brandished his gun telling the crowd to step back.
When a deputy asked one juvenile to leave several times, the teenager refused and hit the deputy, the release said.
At one point, Destiny McNeil, 20, a relative of the juvenile attempted to intervene in the arrest and was arrested herself, the release said. Another male juvenile also hit the same deputy in the arm and resisted arrest after he was asked to leave the area. At that point, there were about 300 people involved in the incident.

What a miserable night. They endure the pain of being attacked in the parking lot after having to endure the pain of watching “Little Fockers.”
At what point is a 27-year old man permitted to use military force hand to hand combat techniques against a 15-year old boy?
These kids were out for blood. Under such circumstances, could he still be charged with attacking children with possibly lethal response if he’d punched their heads and kicked their kidneys?
If the writer understands the meaning of 'brandishing' it provides a description of what the 'witness' did. I do not find it a 'funny way'.
They walked out of the movie after their night had been ruined inside the theater by the brats.
Manatee sheriff: Couple attacked at movie theater
A Marine and his wife were attacked outside a movie theatre Christmas night after asking a group of teens to be quiet during a movie. The attack escalated into an fracus attracting approximately 300 bystanders. As a result, four teens and an adult were arrested, according to Manatee County Sheriffs Office reports.
Federico Freire, 27, who is on leave from Afghanistan, went to the movies at the Carmike Royal Palm 20, 5125 26th St. E., to see "Little Fockers" with his wife Kayln.
Freire said a group of about 20 teens were being obnoxious and loud during the movie. When they were asked to be quiet, some of teens began cussing. Kayln Freire went to find a manager and the youths were asked to leave. The couple left shortly afterwards.
We were just so aggravated. We thought, Forget this, were out of here, Federico Freire said during an interview Monday.
I got back up to defend myself and they started running everywhere, he said. A crowd of more than 100 people began to form.
When Freire looked over at his wife, he saw a young male with his shirt off who punched her in the face, knocking her out. Freire went after the youth and the witness brandished his gun telling the crowd to step back.
Deputies soon arrived. As deputies were investigating, the manager of the theater asked anyone without a ticket to leave.
All available deputies were asked to come out to the theater to help restore order to the area, the release said. The manager then shut down the theatre.
Im fine. My wifes face is all swollen up. Shes got cuts in the inside of her mouth. I was able to defend myself pretty good because of my training, but I was more worried about her, Freire said.
The situation is under investigation by the sheriffs office and the charges and names of the juveniles who were arrested have not been released. Their ages range from 15 to 17-years-old, deputies said.
McNeil was charged with resisting arrest without violence and was released from Manatee County jail Sunday on a $750 bond.
