PASADENA - The centennial celebration of Ronald Reagan's birthday begins New Year's Day, when a float dedicated to the 40th president will make its way down Colorado Boulevard.
The 55-foot-long float is designed by Fiesta of Irwindale. It features a 26-foot-high bald eagle and 11 black-and-white photographs of Reagan, which will be decorated with onion seeds, poppy seeds and crushed sweet rice.
"President Reagan always believed America's best days were ahead. At a time when many Americans look forward to a New Year with a similar optimism and pride, we at the Reagan Foundation are honored to be invited to participate in the 122nd Rose Parade," said Stewart McLaurin, executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.

Oh, thank you for posting the pic!! BUMP!!!
This is going to be a prize-winning float and I’m getting goose bumps of anticipation.
I hope and pray that the 100th anniversary year of the Gipper’s birth blesses our country with a new wave of patriotism and conservatism.
I highly recommend you find a DVD of the PBS show, California’s Gold, which profiles the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara. That is, if you do not have it already or have not seen it....??
I wish I could see this float up close. I was lucky to attend a post-parade "viewing" of the Rose Parade floats a few years ago... these floats are incredible works of art! Seeing them in person gave me a far greater appreciation for the intricate work involved... each one is really spectacular.
Thanks, La Enchiladita for the heads up on this one!

The Simi Valley-based Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library will be in partnership with Jelly Belly as sponsors of the float, officials said.
This needs to be repeated again and again. Especially with his 100th b-day approaching.
People need to see the difference between class (RR) and diarrhea (Soetoro).
Behold a President that loved his country, her heritage, and her military!!

And was dumb like a fox. He did his version of “Rope a Dope” on the left so many times.
And had GREAT respect for the Office of the President. I so miss Ronald Reagan...
Reagan was truly the greatest President in my lifetime.
Which is why the left still scorns him. He beat them at their own media game by going around the media and right to the American people. Besides his 1987 amnesty deal (nobody's perfect) he was truly the greatest 20th century President.
Ronald Reagan, my hero; at the top of the list of all-time American patriots.
The current occupant of our WH isn’t worth mentioning relative to America nor would 98% of this Congress.
It would be wonderful to believe as Reagan did that America’s best days are ahead. Maybe we need to go thru the present period like the alcoholic who needs to hit bottom before rebounding. But right now it sure does feel like we’re at the bottom with no place to go but up.
Actually, it's not....nothing until a slight chance of spritz on January 2.
Wifey and I drove through there during the monsoon last week and passed a Tournament of Roses 'official car' on the Interstate....the guy driving it looked really nervous, as if he were thinking about the New Year's forecast.
Nailed it my friend. He is my hero! And AND he kicked Kadafi’s ass to boot.
The Rose Parade.
Ronald Reagan.
Beautiful Santa Barbara (Reagan Ranch).
Free Republic.

Thanks for the ping.....I’ll be watching my TV for this float in the parade.
I saw the ‘post parade’ floats during the 1990s when I lived in So. CA.....Pp close the floats are awesome and smell good too!
Thanks for pinging your “people” to the topic, Nutmeg, and may I say Happy New Year to you. I think we want the same kind of happiness, yes? For America to get back on track.
Anyway, I always get excited about the parade and think about going. Then I think of how cold and crowded, getting there early, waiting, etc., and I chicken out. The TV coverage is so wonderful and home is so cozy, LOL!!
However, if we had an FR section on the route, I would re-consider.....:)
You’re right. The “forecast” changed after I posted that. We had some heavy rain today, but already clearing. I can’t count how many times the rain has disappeared just in time for Rose Parades past to proceed...:)
Thanks for stopping by and pinging your people, ExTexasRed!!
