I would love to see that happen.
But it won’t.
I have yet to see anyone on our side with big enough balls. Yeah, even in Texas.
One reason Texas has been slow to respond to stuff in the past year is because our legislature only meets every other year, and our Governor is strictly limited.
Our legislature meets the second Tuesday of January, 2011. And, by the way, it’s now supermajority Republicans after the last election. The Dems can’t even stop stuff by absconding to Oklahoma any more.

If fedgov shuts off their funds, they should direct all companies in Texas to forward their federal tax witholding to the state to be held in escrow until it’s resolved.
Just wait. People in Texas are very, very angry about what’s been going on.

Not as long as Bernanke and Geithner have control of the printing presses....
(I read somewhere recently that Federal Tax receipts - from all sources - accounts for only 40% of Federal outlays..)
I think also as the Declaration of Independence says "Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Government long established should not be changed for light or transient causes..." Prudence, in other words, dictates first going for state court and legislative nullification of abhorrent federal laws, using every means possible before deciding on cessation as the final answer.
Personally, I believe that at some point cessation of those that hate tyranny and love freedom appears inevitable. But I also believe in going through all the steps necessary to avoid it if at all possible.
That’s true, sort of. But if they don’t get the billions from Texas on schedule, that whole house of cards is going to collapse - because then the world financial markets are going to have to de-rate the US. Pretty much the same thing that happens when a big company has their largest client tell them they’re not getting paid.

Oh don’t worry. There will be a few more than just OK, AZ and MO to come along. The map of the US might look similar to
the one in 1861.

Well, that depends. - The President can order the Texas National Guard to take the governor into custody and the Federal courts can handcuff the Texas legislature as well.
To stand up to that threat, the Governor must have high US Armed Forces officers & commanders - who are the officers in the Texas National Guard - willing to disregard their oaths to the Federal Officials & willfully disobey Federal orders.
In addition, he would have to have the near total willingness of all state and local police forces to resist federal officers with lethal force.
In short, what I am saying is that he must have the preconditions needed for armed secession in place and THAT is nearly impossible these days.
Of course it would not come to that - The state would back down just like George Wallace did in the face of National Guard troops in Alabama.
The only things that he could do when push comes to shove is play political capital.
Easy way to get rid of democRats/liberals in the seceded states:
1) cut off welfare
2) make it impossible for busybodies to get into positions of power over others and their private property
You’re missing one thing. Texas actually has its own military, separate from the National Guard. It’s called the Texas State Guard.
- First order of business is to shut down, repeal, or strike down ObamieComieCare.
- Next, go after ALL UNCONSTITUTIONAL REGULATORY AGENCIES that have allowed the executive branch to create laws thus circumventing the balance of powers in government.
- Next abolish most of the cabinet posts and departments.
- Next, cut taxes to 10% flat sales tax abolishing with the hideous IRS in the process.
- Next, rebuild and update our borders and military capabilities as second to none as an effective deterrent to aggression.
- Take it from there I guess...
Average American prosperity would be unprecedented. This would be like the Biblical Jubilee, "Proclaim liberty throughout the land."

Missouri demoRATS are mostly clustered in the Amish enclaves of St. Louis, MO and Kansas City, MO. Don’t EVER doubt the conservative credentials of Missourians. Those areas dis-proportionally slant it toward demoRATs in some elections.
