Put a CFC in a ceiling fan light and the strobe effect will make you fall down.

We've had CFCs in our ceiling fans for years and never fell down.

You don’t get an obvious strobe effect when the fan is on with a CFC?

I fall down frequently under ours and never did understand it til now. What really confirms that the stroboscopic effect is responsible is that I can walk under it with the light out, or the fan off, and never even stutter step much less fall on my butt. But with both on, splat!!! My electrician thought I was kidding him until he saw me go all wobble-kneed right in front of him, followed by a strange urge to stare at one of those old fashioned bug repellant yellow incandescent bulbs for 45 minutes.
