Georgia Governor trots out the usual Bush-ite tropes associated with immigration politics: pro-enforcement Americans are ruled by their emotions, the GOP needs non-white support to survive, enforcing the law entails violating compassion.

It's disturbing that the ruling class GOP is defined by Perdue's type of Republican -- the kind who views immigration policy entirely through the prism of sentimentality, p.c. and cliche, while implicitly accusing those who disagree of being morally or intellectually deficient: "(Immigration) is a very emotive, emotion-filled topic that I think sometimes gets us out there where our hearts really aren't."

Perdue's prescriptions are compassionate conservatism at its most saccharine and nauseating.

There are two kinds of Republicans, those that have been Tea Partied and those that will be Tea Partied.

He's only going to be in office 2 more weeks and he can't serve another term -- he can say anything he likes.

The incoming governor, Deal, is from Illegal Immigrant Central - Hall County, which has most of the major chicken processing plants in GA. You'd think he might be sympathetic to the illegals, but I think he has first hand knowledge of all the problems they cause for a community -- depressed wages, the load on welfare rolls and hospital ERs, and the crime, especially drunk drivers without licenses or insurance.

I'm always supicious of the motives of people who seem so oblivious to the obvious - that is, illegal immigration is having a profoundly corrosive effect on the republic.

I'm fairly certain that compassion is the farthest thing from their minds.

Incredibly childish rambling.

"while loving the law and expecting the law to be fulfilled and that's a tricky balance,"

Okay.....what is so "tricky" about enforcing our laws? I certainly have no problem obeying them (even though I do sometimes speed, but if I'm caught, I accept the consequences).

I haven't been caught speeding; however, I do not take advantage of doing it. Sometimes on the LIE I tend to "go with the traffic". I look down and realize I'm going 75! I slow down to 65 (they don't really bother you if you're going 65).

And I ALWAYS drive in the middle lane as well!

Purdue feels about the illegals the same as the plantation owners felt about the black slaves. The chicken plants have got to have their tax payer subsidized almost free labor, while you pick up the tab!!!

Only reason the dems want illegals is because they end up voting dem.

If they voted repub they would have a shoot-on-sight order for the southern border.

Split the country into two parts, Free Red States...and the rest. Then end welfare of all sorts for the able bodied in the Red states and the rump dem nation would howl because all their beloved immigrants would move to their area to collect freebies. They would no longer need their votes so they would want them REMOVED.

Your comments are B.S.

Nothing Perdue says in this interview suggest that he is soft on illegal immigration. Nothing.

Take your smear-mongering to a website for the illiterate.

I have to disagree here. "Plantation" owners had a vested interest in their "slaves" being healthy and able to work (it was not just a "lets go out and buy some slaves tomorrow" type thing back in that day). Purdue could care less, more will come across the border regardless of their health and who they are replacing and it is a daily occurring thing. Don't get me wrong, I am not advocating slavery, but I grow weary of my supposed past being construed as beating everything and anything or that every "owner" was a first class asshole. Not sorry if I rub someone the wrong way, but it is akin to a farmer today deprecating his combine to the point of not being able to work the next day for??? Does it happen? probably. Do those owners last long in the business? nope.

>We can love all people while loving the law and expecting the law to be fulfilled and that's a tricky balance

No, its not:

Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people.

Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.

No man is above the law and no man is below it: nor do we ask any man's permission when we ask him to obey it.

There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100% Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else.

When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer "Present" or "Not guilty."

Gov. Perdue warns GOP on immigration: "We can love all people while loving the law and expecting the law to be fulfilled and that's a tricky balance....."

Those suckered-in by the "here for a better life" scam should ponder this. Americans should not have to to tolerate this ntl-security nightmare. These outrages are burdening taxpayers, and corroding our system of govt. Read on.

Obama ia sucking up to illegals---acting out of fear: fear of offending the Mexican government, the National Council of La Raza, and other immigrant advocates....all of whom are providing Democrat voters to endangered Dems.
