An airline pilot is being disciplined by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for posting video on YouTube pointing out what he believes are serious flaws in airport security.

Do you really think they do not know who you are? Have you ever posted decentive views over the net? Have you ever bought a weapon? Have you ever used a debit or credit card to purchase ammo? Ever surfed websites to research tactics used by uncle sugar?
This very post can be read and tracked to the URL then back to your internet account, all your info upon signup, your address, your SS#...on and on and on.

My comment was about the specific TSA agent who did the pat down on me. Her manner indicated that was just as aware as I was that this was Kabuki theatre. While I know full well that there are many TSA agents with a “Mall cop” mentality, I refuse to automatically despise someone who hasn’t yet given me a reason.
I have huge issues with the NEA and the idiots at the Department of Education but I know some pretty amazing teachers who are just trying to do a good job within a system they hate. It’s kind of the same principle - I imagine that most of us can come up with an example in our lives/careers when we had to follow a policy that we knew was a waste of time.
Decent TSA agents are on our side in this fight and I’m hoping that some of them will start making noise and that will help to stop the charade!

The pilot’s complaints are legit. As a pilot he has a duty to his own safety to make this known. If one accepts that there is a NEED to do the naked scanners, the removal of belts, shoes and jewelry, the emptying of pockets, the banning of water bottles and carry on sodas, the banning of nail clippers and pocket knifes, the lewd abusive pat-downs — then clearly by that level of “security” his complaints about access via service doors, and to the plane loading areas of the tarmac have merit.
I don’t buy that all these are good procedure, but he recorded the NEEDED evidence well, and it fit the theory of security by which these harsh, debasing (and ineffective) methods are employed by the TSA. It showed they are deficient. It showed the frustration HE feels as a professional pilot, having to go through the ridiculously debasing “security” searches.
All these thing are best known to the public — to the OWNERS of this society. Us.
He did a great job.
My comments were directed to the boobs and idiots who sent a mini-Swat team of 6 to his house and took his gun, revoked his authority to carry it in the cockpit, and obviously called the local LOON of a sheriff to have his CCW pulled. Those actions were so STUPID that even if I was on THEIR SIDE I would call them idiotic. They turned a minor PR annoyance into a massive headache for them.
So much for their "See something, say something" program.

Do you actually think TSA security is "secure"? It isn't. The TSA is amateur at best and not particularly functional. Does it make sense to perpetuate that foolishness when actual security is so much more easily done?
Do you think it makes sense to subject Americans to such scrutiny while the Mexican border is wide open and known to be admitting "OTM" into out Nation?
Do you think it makes sense to give up Liberty in exchange for pretense of security?
Regardless of Party I do tend to support and respect insider whistle blowers because only they understand just how badly the rest of us are getting shafted by an institution that is rewarded with our taxes for doing nothing. So yeah on the surface I support this dude.

IIRC San Fran is the Airport AND what he shows is the area where the folks who work on the tarmac go in and out. No inspections no Cameras even just a card reader and keypad (again if memory serves) so anyone could let a bad guy out to where the planes are and no one would be the wiser.
He also shows in the video all the scrutiny the passengers get and then shows how easy one could get to where the planes are.
It takes very little imagination to understand a dangerous package such as a bomb could be hid on one's person then get a buddy to get you through the unguarded door and toss such into the cargo hold of the plane or the landing gear.

I’ve read a number of opinions here on this thread.
Looks like the consensus is that it’s OK to go public with exploitable security threats, especially if you tried to rectify issues and was ignored, and the people you inform are covering up. Sort of like the Assange approach to making improvements.
TSA is notoriously slow to change- they are as slow and stupid as dinosaurs, and for most things it can take them years to respond. Budget requests, congressional votes, appropriations bills.
On the other hand, the terrorists can respond quickly to opportunities, since they don’t get funding from Congress. There could be someone ready to go right now, with acetone, peroxide, battery acid, vaseline and a dozen cold packs.
So if we publicize exploitable vulnerabilities, who will be able to respond first?
