Delaware News Journal Wrong Again: promotes David Keegan to O'Donnell "campaign manager"

The Delaware News Journal retroactively promoted quixotic gadfly David Keegan to Christine O'Donnell's "CAMPAIGN MANAGER" -- continuing the News Journal's perfect record of inaccuracies, falsehoods, and sloppy reporting.

In a "We're on vacation and have nothing new to report on" RETREAD story, the News Journal repeated an old attack from the George Soros-funded Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) against Christine O'Donnell on December 22, 2010.

But the News Journal added one new bit of false nonsense:

The News Journal falsely reported that David Keegan was "campaign manager" for Christine O'Donnell's 2008 US Senate campaign, in the process of repeating the same old unfounded accusations -- offered in the spirit of Christmas.

Earlier, the News Journal reported that Kristin Murray was Christine O'Donnell's 2008 campaign manager, although Kristin Murray was fired by Christine O'Donnell after 3 weeks, during which Murray only worked about 1.5 weeks. Now that the truth about Kristin Murray not actually being O'Donnell's 2008 campaign manager is making the rounds, the News Journal decided to promote David Keegan retroactively to that position instead.

In fact, David Keegan knows nothing about the finances of Christine O'Donnell or O'Donnell's 2008 or 2010 campaign.

David Keegan's affidavit is the basis of C.R.E.W.'s accusations against O'Donnell.

David Keegan was a "fund-raiser" only in the sense that he organized a bar-b-cue or two as a fund-raising event for Christine O'Donnell's 2008 US Senate campaign.

However, David Keegan never held any position or office or title with the O'Donnell campaign. Keegan acted as an outside volunteer, outside of the campaign's actual leadership.

Keegan has no knowledge of the finances of the Christine O'Donnell campaign, which he was not involved in.

Even a professional fund-raising company, such as Richard Viguerie or Stuart Grey, is not normally informed about the internal finances or expenditures of a campaign. Fund-raisers only work on raising money -- not deciding how campaign funds are actually spent.

David Keegan claims that he knows about O'Donnell's finances based on being a "financial consultant" to the campaign -- which he never was.

Keegan has been a source of complaints of 2008 staffers not being paid -- although Keegan has never submitted a proper invoice with receipts to obtain payment from the O'Donnell campaign for the whopping $130 he complains about.

Keegan's actual involvement is as the uncle of Christine O'Donnell's estranged boyfriend, Brent Vasher. Keegan's only source of knowledge about O'Donnell is from an ex-boyfriend, now apparently bitter at Christine O'Donnell.

So, C.R.E.W. has built its FEC complaint entirely upon the bitterness of an ex-boyfriend.

Amazingly, Dave Keegan's accusation would also involve his nephew Brent Vasher -- an attorney in New Jersey -- in a crime or fraud. Thus, Brent Vasher would lose his bar license if David Keegan's accusations were true.

Although not interested in the matter until Christine O'Donnell won the September 14, 2010, primary, C.R.E.W. magically decided to file a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) right after O'Donnell won the Republican nomination for the US Senate.

In fact, C.R.E.W.'s complaint was filed after Delaware Republican Chairman Tom Ross filed his own FEC complaint against the Tea Party Express and O'Donnell's campaign.

Not to be out-done in its own field, C.R.E.W. quickly followed suit after Tom Ross' complaint.

C.R.E.W. immediately began sending out fund-raising letters and emails to exploit Christine O"Donnell's name. SEE a copy of CREW's September 21, 2010, fund-raising email appeal: http://www.enjoyabaco.com/CREWFundRaisingEmail.pdf

C.R.E.W. sensationalized its baseless accusations in a LIST published on September 15 , 2010.

Therefore, the News Journal story December 22, 2010, is simply a repeat of C.R.E.W.'s slander from September 15, 2010.

You were there, right — you were her primary campaign manager. Who was the real campaign manager for the 2008 campaign? It seems like this would be an easy thing to find, and knowing the name would make it easy to put down all the stories about the woman who was fired as campaign manager, and this nonsense with Keagan.

But I looked all over the internet, and can’t find a name for her actual campaign manager — just the people that were accusing her.
