Yes, more and more of the American population now lives in red states, and that will benefit the GOP in Congress and Presidential elections.
But while the map is getting redder, the red states themselves may are getting bluer, especially Texas, which was the huge winner with a net pickup of 4 seats.
This chart is from the state of Texas. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where the population growth has come from, and where it's going (hint: the growth is not coming from the GOP Anglo base). Note that if we're just talking white population, Texas has barely grown at all (and to the extent it has, it's been in Democrat-friendly cities like Dallas and Austin).
Other states are also shifting for similar reasons. They're not as big, but then the Congressional gains aren't nearly as dramatic.

Yeah, but...the statehouses build the districts. It will be a net gain of seats, no doubt.
Didn’t take long for the liberal media to find a way to spin the results.....
New seats will probably split 2-2. Dems favored in new Dallas and South Texas districts.
Pretty depressing.
You really think that Texas is going to turn blue again in the near future? Cuz I don’t see it happening.
Urbanization=liberalization=dhimmicrat drones
We will never be a colorblind society because it works to control people and gather power. I’m so sick of it I could just puke.
LOL!

we can’t ignore the INCREASE in the Hispanic population in the USA.
This is a Demographic that everyone knows will occupy a significant percentage of our population ( both legal and illegal ).
Our future will depend on the IDEOLOGY of this segment of our population.... will they become more conservative or liberal?
The future of this nation is tied to the answer to this question.
20 years of “Californication” have turned Washington State from purple to dark blue.
But Congressional districts are district-by-district, not a whole state. Districting is everything.
Amazing that foreigners are represented in our government, but as long as the Census doesn’t ask...

Yep, and here is your complete explanation:

Sort of. I think of the whole world as being in August of 1939, this really doesn’t matter to me. All the states could go blue, frankly. It would only speed up the inevitable.
Hence my tagline.
RE: You really think that Texas is going to turn blue again in the near future? Cuz I dont see it happening.
I really hope NOT. But I don’t know the answer to this question for the longer term.
It looks right for now, but we have to take into account some factors that we must control. Among them :
* Illegals crossing the border
* Population growth among certain segments of the population
* INWARD migration from economically challenged states ( e.g. California ) INTO Texas.
If liberals from states like California move to Texas, you can be sure that Texas will be INFECTED with the liberal disease just as New Hampshire ( the “Live Free or Die” state) has been with a significant influx of liberals from Massachusetts.
That said, we should learn from our European friends what happens when some sectors of your population stop re-populating and others don't.
Also, who’s to say sitting here today that Hispanics in Texas will still be voting heavily democratic in 2040? Or even 2020?
