After a turbulent year, Eurocopter concludes 2010 with four maiden flights of different helicopter types from its range of military and civilian helicopters. In particular, the NH90 programme, which last week saw two first flights, experienced some significant ups and downs in 2010. Meeting harsh criticism in Germany, along with the Tiger combat helicopter, both platforms as well as other military helicopters provided noteworthy accomplishments for other countries. Further, the Tiger HAP continues to support the French Armed Forces efforts in Afghanistan. Begun in mid-2009 the helicopters first deployment to a war zone has already achieved far more than 1,000 flight hours in this military operation.

The photo at the link looks waaaay too much like the Russian helicopters used in Afghanistan -— what? Twenty years ago?
Watched a report on one of the cable channels regarding the Euro-copter program, and you’d have sworn our helicopters were very inferior by the gyst of things.
I’ve wondered how biased the report had been since seeing it.
The way they described the technological advancements and compared them to current U. S. technology, it had me concerned.
I’m not an industry insider obviously, but the arguments they were making sounded quite powerful.

Umh.... Did you realy expect the 1960s designed AH-64 Apache to be technological on par with something designed in the 1990s like the EC Tiger ?
Other nations do also have nice toys. Have a look at the russian/ukrainian cargo aircraft. The AN-124 is way better then our beloved C-5.
Do you know why ? Our military procurement doesn’t take care of the products capability or reliability. They only take care to split the budget on the 4 big defence companies in a fair way.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you here, but the overall situation remains as I stated.
