I ask this out of true ignorance, and I am prepared to be educated -- Police officers carry tasers, as far as I know. I would imagine (but do not know) that a taser would be effective against a dog.
Why wouldn't a cop draw his taser, not his gun, when a strange dog approached? I would picture that as safer for everyone.
Not all cops carry tasers ... but, if he had one, it would’ve been a better option.
