How can you be sure the dog knew where the property line was, and intended to stop? Maybe the dog hadn’t been privy to a copy of the deed or local property records ... so it wouldn’t know exactly where it should stop its attack.

Good grief. Its an invisible line. There is no reason for a cop to think a charging dog is going to respect property lines ... and there is simply no legal reason that he would need to wait for the dog to break the invisible property line before defending himself.

Do you honestly expect someone (cop or otherwise) to survey property lines when a dog charges them? Haha.

This is ridiculous. You’re talking about “calculus” and “logic” when your whole argument rests on a dog recognizing property lines ...

What a crock.

Buried wire fence. Did you miss that part of the story?

Yes. I expect a cop to be smart enough to know where the STREET ends and someone's property starts. You know, that whole look down and see where the tar ends and the grass starts thing? It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that one out.

Nope. It's the dog hitting the barrier signal and getting zapped by the collar around it's neck that stops it. A fact in this story you refuse to acknowledge as it undermines your entire thesis.

Invisible Fence will definately stop the dog. It is basically electro shock, they stop.

Back in 1990, I had two Dobermans and *no* fence whatsoever.

They would run full tilt right up to the property line and skid to a halt, barking their heads off.

NEVER stepped off my property, even once.

Many dogs, due to their scent-marking/territorial boundary instincts know where “their” property ends and somebody else’s begins better than the average fence-hopping neighborhood kid.

Invisible fence products for dogs are common as could be in the suburbs where this occurred. They’re on the shelf down at Home Depot and Lowes. You should look the next time you are there. If you are living in a Unibomber hut in the middle of nowhere without either close, I’m sure TSC has them.

There are plenty of reasons for anyone with two brain cells to rub together to think a barking dog might stop.
