Wasn’t there an “anti-garage sale law” passed a couple of years ago?

Basically a prohibition on selling children’s clothes that didn’t pass “inspection” for fire safety or some such.

I think The People handled it in this manner - they ignored it.

Active civil disobedience. When they prohibit something so basic...

Words fail me. Not just CoC compliant words, but how do you articulate your feelings over something this outrageous?

There was also a law passed re: lead in kid's toys. I was over on one of my social/hobbies sites (majority of posters are liberal/"moderate"/apolitical) and someone mentioned Goodwill and similar places as a good way to get Christmas toys for cheap for children too young to appreciate "snob appeal". Several posters said that because of the "lead law" most of the used (and even the Dollar stores, which sell new items) in their areas had quit selling toys entirely. Not *quite* the same as targeting garage sales, but it shows how these laws ARE having a negative impact : It was too expensive to test all "older" used toys (or new merchandise, for the Dollar stores) for lead content, so the cheapest venues for toys just...stopped selling toys. So parents have to go to the more expensive places to buy new toys for Christmas, at least in the areas where those posters live .
