What he's saying is that there is no active policy to weed out homosexuals under DADT. Newsflash--gays/lesbians have been serving long before I joined, and served long after I got out. (I served under both "Ask" and DADT.)

My issue is not a lifestyle issue, per se--it's issues of readiness and good order/discipline. Open homosexuals in the ranks will degrade both. DADT wasn't perfect, but at least it recognized the reality that homosexuals who wanted to serve were going to, one way or another, and at least THAT policy had the effect of keeping a lid on one's sexuality.
