The Senate has just voted to end debate on a bill that would lift the ban on gays serving openly in the military, essentially clearing the measure for passage and signature by the president.
Lawmakers voted 63 to 33 to end debate on the current policy, put in place by former president Bill Clinton, informally known as "don't ask don't tell."
The Senate could vote on final passage of the measure as early as today but it will most likely happen on Sunday or Monday.
"We are on the verge of ending 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for good," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said after the vote "This is one of those moments in our history when we stepped up and squared our policies with the values this nation was founded upon."

in the heat of battle, cooler heads always prevail....get on the phone, be calm, there is still a chance before the next vote, if one want to yell, I still say, carry on....mho
“Cooler heads prevail” huh. I guess no one ever told General Patton about that myth.
you ASSUME.
From what I have seen of students, the acceptance of homosexuals is a joke and vastly over estimated.
Maturity changes heads of mush.
there is no national protection with homosexual remaining in the miliatry.
Yup. Remember when we were growing up, homosexuality, transvestitism and other similar conditions were considered psychiatric disorders?
Another ramification of this is this: It's probably not only going to be homosexuals. Has anyone noticed how often transexuals, gender neutrals, transvestites and other groups are included under the umbrella of homosexuality?
This is just half a step away from open homosexuals in the military. All it takes is a rider amended to another bill quietly in the middle of the night.
Watch for it.
Are the Christian Chaplains now in your “sites”, hypocrite?
you’re talking college kids who are brainwashed.
try the military or join it and you’ll see the majority of younger guys do not want repeal and no I am not old either
maybe not, but Patton did have some trouble for some of his actions, so carry on.
I agree with this; but does that include laws of the land to enforce what we KNOW is morally correct, but which is a religious morality? And should that be applied to every sin?
I've always wondered why there wasn't more on an outrage about our military soldiers having "shore leave" -- adultery and fornication is a sin, but only certain types of adultery seem to be of concern in the military.
I oppose this repeal, because I see this as an attack on our culture by a militant group concerned more with changing normalcy than getting along or being allowed to serve.
Still, this was the inevitable result of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". It used to be illegal to be gay in the military. When we changed that to "be gay, just don't let us know about it", we set up for today -- a generation of gay soldiers as "proof" it doesn't matter.
When in fact, the key I think was that gay sexual activity was banned; I think we need to still prohibit all gay sex between military members, and that will be the biggest fallout from repeal.
Do us a favor and crawl back under your rock!
You are really unhinged.
After over 100 years of service, no member of my family will ever serve again. It is now against our religious beliefs.
Yes you will - do what? Donate ALL your money to traitors?
Your post said “I will donate all my money now to any traitor to the military voted for this in the GOP”.
I was just jokingly pointing out your rambling post made no sense.
but they cannot get into skirts after work,
They cannot hold and or kiss on base.
They cannot have homosexual parties.
They cannot have their homosexuals flags flying.
They cannot have sex or parades on base.
Do you get where this is going?
I wonder if the strong opposition to gays in the military would be seen if all we were talking about was lesbians.
After all, there’s little chance that a lesbian is going to have sex with our military men; there was actually more “impact” I would think with a heterosexuai female in that regard.
Plus, it seems the offensive sex act which causes the most medical issues, is a male act.
You are the one who is unhinged. Make sure to say hi to your son’s gay best friend today. I bet you are so proud.
No kidding...they worked for me and under DADT I did not ask and even when I knew, I did not tell. It is what OPEN homosexuality will bring with it. You really do not have a clue do you?

You are right,We have these Queer lovers in our own party anything is possible.
FOX has been a disgrace over the homosexual agenda.
Same as Hannity etc
if they showed the video’s of their freak parades and told the viewers of their agenda like fisting in schools then the public would actually wake the hell up
I assume the non answer indicates that you never bothered to serve yourself. Thanks for clarifying where you're coming from.
