Collapse of the omnibus spending bill: rise of the "tea party Congress"?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | Dec 17, 2010 | Patrik Jonsson

Some see ideals of tea party movement at play in Senate, after a huge spending bill loaded with earmarks is scuttled after GOP lawmakers thought twice about it.

On the anniversary of the actual Boston tea party some 237 years ago - when pesky colonists dressed up as Indians and threw the King's tea into Boston Harbor - the modern invocation of that revolutionary spirit tossed another expensive package overboard Thursday: a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill.

We can only hope.

If we don't get spending under control, we are heading for a revolution. (It's going to get ugly over in Europe in 2011.)

If the Dream Act and DADT repeal pass then it’s over. It will not matter.

Our victory on this Pork laden Bill also Killed S-510. The Food control Bill.

Senator McCain even acknowledged and thanked the American people and the Tea Parties on the Senate Floor for making this happen!

The Senate RINOs who voted for the Soetoro Spending Spree Compromise need to get the primary boot in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

I keep hearing from other FReepers that the Dream Act will not get passed. A few of the Talking heads on Fox News have even said it is dead. I can only hope they are all right.

Dream Act is the worst one. Start? The Democrats and most of DC are more EVIL than Putin.

DADT? Well the House can say if it is not repealed by January 10, 2011 then no money will be allocated for anything. No new weapons systems, no “nothin.”

No offense, but I do not think the Tea Party really had anything to do with the defeat. IMO, I think the dems dumped this massive bill on the Republicans a few days ago to distract them from their other goals. They knew there was no way this bill was going to pass. This weekend will be interesting to see if behind closed doors a deal was struck to get something else passed. If the Dream Act passes then the fix is in and the republicans got suckered into putting all of their energy into a Bill the dems knew would not pass but bargained the Dream Act to drop the spending bill. This could also be tied to the tax rate extension. It just seems there is a lot of excessive whining and complaining from Dems which makes me think something is up. I just don't trust these guys

DADT is not a problem which will in any way effect the long term fiscal health of the country. I am totally against it myself but on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being things of REAL importance in ways other then political, this one comes in at an 11.

Military personnel have their own way of dealing with what they would consider to be inappropriate behavior in the ranks. Trust me on this. If you think you will be seeing soldiers walking around holding hands you are sadly mistaken. It’s just not that big a deal other then in the political won/lost sense.

Before the flame throwers are unleashed, please know I am totally against this but believe there are far more important battle to fight and win.

Dream is worse. DADT is NOT good. They need to cut the military and weapons systems anyway. There is no will in this country to win wars as witnessed by Nov 2008. Our troops are in Iraq and Afghan now to amuse the Saudi king and Islam as they are bears in a penny arcade shooting gallery. Our troops have been sitting ducks since Jan 2009.

I blame the idiots in America brainwashed by TV and Prince Al Waleed’s Fox is just as bad as his Disney/ABC and TW/CNN which he is a big shareholder in all of them plus Citicorp, Ge and the list goes on.

Idiots in America care more about ball games where the NFL fawns over the islamist. The NBA, MLB, NCAA and ESPN also praise him endlessly. A nation of idiots brainwashed by Tv.
