Worth checking the link out to see the excellent pictures.
LOL! That’s why they have been wanting to call it climate change instead lately!
I remember deplaning in Logan (from Toronto, iirc) and pilot announced that it was 14 degrees. I heard a voice with a British accent saying, “It doesn’t feel like 14 degrees.” (14 C = 57.2 F). -10 C = +14F. Brrrr. While not uncommon in Boston, 14F is pretty rare in Britain.
I wish we’d get up to 14 degrees. I’d break out the bikini.
How much power do snow-covered solar panels and frozen windmills produce?
But...but...I thought it was the warmest year on record!!

Snicker....although I shouldn't be snickering since here in California, they just passed some cap and trade thing. Yikes! BTW, here in Los Angeles we also happen to be having an unusually cold winter, plus it's turning out to be one of our wettest winters in awhile.
Cool.......Maunder would be proud
Last winter was exceedingly miserable. In fact, I was overjoyed when that March warm spell hit the US. And then Easter brought about summer-like conditions.
I have the Book, Plantagenet Chronicles-year 1066 and up. They wrote of how they would hold Fairs on the ice of the Thames each winter.
I wonder if we are entering another mini ice age.
A comment on the article:
“...I run a solar observatory located high in the White Mountains of California. Falling Sun activity levels recorded over the past 2 years indicated a record cold winter for 2010-2011. Corroborating data from a similar observatory in Chile was alarming, showing that the Southern hemisphere (which is mostly water — oceans) was unusually cold during their summer (2009-2010) and afterward.
The conclusions from ACTUAL DATA (not from faulty ‘models’ developed by worthless idiots like John Hansen at NASA, and promoted by loony politicians like Al-Gore, or crazy members of royalty) are:
1) The sun was unusually active in the latter half of the 20th Century (highest solar activity in 11000 years — the end of the last ice age),
2) solar activity is reverting toward the mean.
The implications of colder climates are a greater need for precisely the economic activities which the global-warming-alarmists are attempting to eliminate. They’re a menace to humanity, and must be stopped

That is precisely what FReepers have been saying for years!

Coldest December since records began as temperatures
plummet to minus 10C bringing travel chaos....

Good thing we didn’t spread coal dust on the North and South Poles
to prevent the “imminent” global cooling in the 1970s.
As proposed by some climatoligist back then.
I guarn-darn-tee-it that there are university professors eating nice meals
at reduced prices at their university clubs...
that said the earth was gonna freeze in the 1970s.
And said we were going to be out of petroleum and natural gas by
“The Year Two Thousand”.
(tip of the hat to Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter (sp?), no matter how
much I viewed them as D-List comics.)

It’s Global Warming!
It’s getting too cold for all those polar glaciers!
Their heating systems and building practices aren’t designed for this sort of weather.
OMG! 5 farenheit? Those poor babies! They wouldnt last 3 days in Chicago in December.
