Go to the hardware store, paint department, buy TSP Hard Surface Cleaner. Add one tablespoon to dishwasher along with your regular soap. It is what is missing from the new “green” detergents. Your dishes will look like you remembered.

Be careful with that though too. The first two boxes of TSP that I picked up in the hardware store were "phosphate-free" TSP. (Yes, I know it's supposed to stand for tri-sodium phosphate. I have no idea how they can make it phosphate-free ... and I have a degree in chemistry!) My dishes had been awful too until I bought "real" TSP. I also add it to the laundry now. The new clothing detergent doesn't take out greasy stains without phosphate ... I have 4 kids ... I need to get laundry clean the first time through.

Thanks for the tip!

We installed a new dw just about the time the detergents were modified. So I was all over GE on this, and not understanding what the real problem was.

This sounds like a good fix.

Thank you both for the tip!

Sheesh, it takes a trip to the local farmer feed & seed too to get veterinary pesticides that actually kill bugs around the house.

If it’s “phosphate free”, it ain’t TSP.
