Atheists might be more convincing if they focused more on a consistent application of their philosophy and less on sticking their finger exclusively in Christians’ eyes.
The sticking-a-finger-in-the-eye of Christians thing is the best part of atheism. That's the initial attraction for a lot of atheists. It gets their foot in the door of this new faith, and then they start to realize that there is a potential cost to their fun little game of tweak-the-Christian and they end up having to compensate by going whole hog into an alternate religious system:
With every fiber of their being, atheists believe that God is not real. They hold on to this belief with great fear and trembling because if they are wrong, they know they are in trouble.
