Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid moved late Thursday to set up a climactic vote this weekend on a bill to repeal the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

The procedural vote is set for Saturday, along with one on a bill to legalize some children of illegal immigrants who enlist in the military or in college, known as the DREAM Act.

I don’t like DADT repeal, but it seems a done deal, and anyway is not nearly as important as blocking the DREAM Act.

We have to stop the Dream act.

If the Dream act is not stopped and illegals are not deported then the U.S. is finished and no conservative will ever be elected in the U.S.

Where is Rush, Beck, Drudge etc. on this?

The evil democrats/socialists will push this on a Saturday when no one is looking. democrats = pure evil.

Dream Act is not nearly as important as DADT.

These Rat bastards are basically giving the military along with the majority of the United States the middle finger in spite of the election last month. They just need to go home and leave.

The worst congress in the history of our country. These clowns are without a doubt clearly out of touch of the American public.

I agree 100%. DADT can be revised, but once amnesty is offered it cannot be rescinded.

How wonderful! A gay illegal can join the military, swish about, and bring discrimination charges. A capable ACLU lawyer latches on to the case and the next thing we know, we taxpayers are ponying up a nice hefty settlement!

Now if only they can divert more research funds to Aids, and away from illnesses that are not caused by individual actions, Juan may be able to live to spend his money!

It's not a DREAM, it's a nightmare.

These Rat bastards are basically giving the military along with the majority of the United States the middle finger BECAUSE of the election last month.

There! Fixed it!

With DADT repeal comes de facto recognition of gay marriage in all 50 states (interesting to see how that will play out in Saudi Arabia...)

I’m not really sure I agree with that statement but it doesn’t matter because this seems a lost cause. I’d fight ii if I thought otherwise but right now START and DREAM imo are the only two we might possibly be able to stop.

I’m just curious why DADT is suddenly so important to Reid. I know there was some polling suggested that Republicans received more of the gay vote the last election cycle and this could be a nod to them to try and stop the loss of these voters. I’m not sure it would. With that issue resolved it would further free them to vote on fiscal considerations. They can still wave gay marriage I guess but not everyone in that community sees it as a civil right and the public is more open to civil unions then they are gay marriage.

I’m reasonably confidant Obama wanted no part of this yet. I think this is an issue he would have liked to wave as an election banner for his own self interests in motivating his base in 2012. This is counter productive for him since that is two years away.

I just don’t understand Reid’s insistence on this. The gain for them is minimal by doing this now. I’m not even aware they were key to his re-election. Pro-amnesty forces were so DREAM makes sense on his part but this?

Yes....

Now show me that this war can still be won with this vote. Because based on the counts I’ve seen it favors DATA passing, even more now that Reid has taken away any room to hide by making it a stand alone vote. The way I see it we could stop it if it was attached to another unpopular piece of legislation but with the current configuration of the Senate there are too many Democrats and Liberal republicans to defeat it if that is the only issue presented.

If a Republicans could somehow snag on funding for Obamacare without their notice it would go down in flames because people like Brown would use that as cover.

I think we could defeat it if it was January with a 47 Republican count in the Senate and a Republican controlled house.

But I’m at a loss as to how to stop a stand alone bill right now.

“who enlist in the military or in college,”

You enlist in college? Does that mean I can have my students who drop my class arrested? How about the ones tha skip classes? Are they AWOL? This could make for some great fun, but alas it probably is just confusing writing typed by a MSMediot.

What?!? The DREAM act is the worse thing they’ve done. Worse than Obamacare.
