After liberals in the Democratic Caucus forced a several-hour delay on tax-cut legislation, the House approved the rules for debate on the legislation this evening and have now begun three hours of general debate. A final vote on the legislation is expected after midnight.
Yesterday, the Senate approved the $858 billion tax plan, by a vote of 81 to 19. The measure (HR 4853), negotiated by President Obama and Senate Republicans, would allow tax cuts for all income levels to continue for two years and extend unemployment insurance benefits for jobless Americans for 13 months.

I thought they were taking a shorter route to our bowels with stuff now.
Outside of freeloaders, socialists, unions members, who the hell votes for these morons??? I can only assume there are millions of idiots who vote democrat because their parents were always democrats. You could run a rapist and if there was a D beside the name, they vote for him. Ooops that already happened with Clinton..
I thought they were taking a shorter route to our bowels with stuff now.
BOHICA!!!
Hoyer “Quack Quack” If it talks like a lame duck and walks like a lame duck it’s a lame duck
The nerve of this clown after all the trillions they have rammed through in 2 years, talking about worrying about the debt for his children.
These democraps are so vile and disgusting.
What an liar, supply side worked for Reagan and Bush 2 to pull out of the mess Carter left and then Clinton left.
In 1993 a little more ???, biggest tax increase in history. Dot com phoney bubble and then it fell apart.
“the President made this deal we don’t like”. Hahahaha, that’s because the President doesn’t have a guaranteed job for life, like you do, Hoyer. If he doesn’t get unemployment down, in November, 2012, the unemployment line is going to get longer by one President.
Pelosi: “President Obama was a job creator from day one.” Tell that to the thousands unemployed.
What the hell is this amendmemnt that Levin is adding ? No open to debate ?
45% estate tax rate amendment.
From what I understand, the Levin amendment changes the original house bill HR 4853 to the text that was adopted by the Senate.
The reason that they had to do it this way is because tax and spending bills have to orginate in the House and not the Senate, per the Consitution. But the Democrats in the House did not want to vote on this first, they wanted the Senate to go first. So the Senate took some bill from the House and amended it completely to the Obama tax compromise. Now the House is considering the amendment to the orginal bill.
I apologize for my ignorance, but when unemployment benefits run out, don’t people get welfare ?
Once when I was nearly broke, in my early 20s, I think I had about $ 100 in the bank, I took a job laying sod for two weeks for a developer. Tough work, but I needed the money and it kept me going. I guess I’ve been lucky, never collected unemployment or welfare.
But I’m curious about the guy who called about his unemployment running out before Christmas, can’t he get welfare ?
The Repubs should ensure, if they can, by letting the 45% tax rate bill passes to jam this lame duck session will stall the Dems DADT, DREAM and START.
Yes, but if this stupid Pomeroy amendment passes, the bill has been altered and will have to go back to the senate and get approved ?
So, if the Levin amendment sets it to the Senate version, why are all the republicans voting against it?
OK, I just checked, and it looks like the “Levin” amendment is actually what used to be the Pomeroy amendment.

Tar and feathers would be too kind. This leftist fool has probably never created, let alone held, a private sector job his entire life. He and the rest of the idiotic looters in DC view OUR money as THEIRS. They are nothing more than self-serving, power hungry, tyrannical THIEVES!.
