Toomey to Support Don’t Ask / Don’t Tell Repeal
NRO ^ | 12/16/2010 | Daniel Foster

Senator-Elect Pat Toomey has just issued a statement supporting repeal of “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell.”

“As I’ve said previously, my highest priority is to have the policy that best enables our armed services to do their job,” Senator-Elect Toomey said. “Our civilian and professional military leadership have now spoken and said we should repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. I would support a free-standing measure to do so.”

If Majority Leader Reid keeps his word, the freestanding repeal measure passed by the House yesterday will be voted on in the Senate in the lame duck, before Sen.-Elect Toomey is seated. Still, the support of a credible conservative like Toomey is a sure sign that repeal is likely to pass.

Call his office or write him.

Or post on his FaceBook wall...

Toomey does not want the gay lobby going after him. He barely won his election.

Guess what? He won't win in 2016. He's a dead candidate walking and he hasn't even started his term.

The only way you’re going to agree 100% with a candidate is if you run yourself.

I wouldn't vote for that SOB. He's a doody head.

“I give up. It’s time to replace the Republican Party.”

Me too! I can’t believe Pat Toomey! This is just plain disgusting.

You pompous ass. This has nothing to do with maturity. But everything thing to do with a man who would weaken our military during a time of war (or anytime for that matter) just to score a few brownie points with the liberal belly-crawlers in his home state. There is no justifiable excuse for this. The tree of liberty needs watered occasionally and maybe it's time.

Jeez, lighten up.

I know that this whole thing is disappointing. I’m disappointed as well that the “Show and Tell” rules are closer to going into effect.

Still, that picture and the captions were among the funniest things I’ve ever seen posted here.

Pray for our defenders of freedom. The military is one of the few remaining bastions of our liberty — and one of the few sanctuaries of our government that have escaped the relentless social engineering of the far left and its intellectual sycophants.

Alright. If Pat Toomey loses in 2016 and we get an ultra-liberal like Rep. Mike Doyle, I can blame you guys because we all got bitter that someone with a 97% conservative was immediately thrown under the bus because of something he said before he even took office. Great job everybody!!!

Every previous time, preachers railed against it. But preachers have a way of looking out for their short-term finances and being wrong in the long-term. Our Nation survived the past expansions, and it will survive this one.

Oh Jim, over here!

The original Tea Party movement was about big government funding health care as I recall, and the bailouts? What I said was it is being made into something that many who are actually Tea Partiers under that definition will not join. I will not die for the Tea Party.

And yet the polling of Tea-Party types show they are overwhelmingly Pro-Life and Anti-Gay Marriage.

So what's your point?

Toomey, like Scott Brown are positioning [sic] themselves to be on “the right side of history”. In history, “rights” were expanded to include non-property owners, to women, to Native Americans, to African-Americans, and now to gays. This seems unstoppable-—for better or for worse.

That there is the gospel of progressivism you preach there...

It entails a progress of human construct devoid of absolute truth and counter to the natural law. The innevitavly that progressives promote is the path to TYRANNY -the very thing the founders set up the Republic to prevent by guaranteeing religion a voice in public discourse. A nation can not on one hand uphold the self evident and unalienable endowed by the Creator when on the other hand it disregards Him and His natural law.

Embracing and promoting homosexual sex is spitting on America and all it stands for... It has NOTHING to do with rights and everything to do with a hard swing to the left, a disregard for the natural law which is premise for the rule of law, and a disregard for the Creator who by necessity must be regarded as He alone endows us with that which tyrants seek always to take away...

A vote for homosexual sex is a vote against America!

The original Tea Party movement was about big government funding health care as I recall, and the bailouts?

AND the original revolution was about much the same thing.

HOWEVER, there is a big difference between a revolution and founding a country established under God with unalienable rights endowed by the Creator. Just as there is a big difference between rejecting health care reform and returning the country back to its original foundation.

Do you "GET IT"? Government denial of the natural law and promotion of homosexual sex is a big problem...

Gay activists were instrumental in destroying Santorum in 2006 and spent millions attacking Santorum and defeating him. I suspect you knew that.

I moved into the state in 2008, so no, I wouldn't know that.

How nice, and Arlen can cast his vote for him! We were warned about Toomey early on when he gushed over the Supreme Court picks. Maybe his purpose is to make Santorum look better in time!

Warned about what? That a 97% conservative rating isn’t enough?

The ratings are now rigged. They were not originally, however. Members are told in advance what narrow votes will “count” on the survey. Otherwise, they are free to take liberal positions that they prefer. That’s how McPain and “Lindsey” keep high ratings.

"Toomey to Support Don’t Ask / Don’t Tell Repeal"

He's certainly welcome to his opinion, but before he votes on it, he should be required to go through Marine Basic Training with embedded gay recruits (have fun with that one....).

This should be immediately followed by a remote special ops assignement of the most difficult kind with a 30% mix of openly gay operators.

If he makes it though all that, then he should be allowed to sponsor and vote on all the DADT repeal legislation he wants.

As a Pennsylvanian, I wonder if it’s possible that Pat Toomey’s “growth” process has begun before he assumes his seat. This position is asinine. How DARE he disrespect those brave forces who are disgusted about being ogled by homosexuals? This goes doubly for the women! Bob

Rick was ignored by many conservatives b/c he endorsed Specter over Toomey on radio, TV and campaign appearances.Plus, Bush’s unwillingness to defend his own admnistration lead folks to believe that all GOPers were poison. I blame Bush, plus the Casy name for the drubbing. AND, the foolhardy belief that Casey himself is a moderate. Bob

Why fight about ANYTHING then? America may as well surrender to the Islamo-fascists and Marxists, and get in line for their daily subsistence meal. We lose issues b/c few FIGHT the battle, and voters remain ignorant. Hell, we can’t even seem to bring ourselves to blame Dems for the mortgage catastrophe. Bob

The Specter endorsement was a terrible mistake and Rick knows it. Casey is terrible - a mediocrity and he is not very pro life either.
