Guess who's been channeling Adam Smith: President Obama -- about as an unlikely a convert to free-market economics as has ever sat in the Oval Office.
And yet, there he was yesterday morning, sitting down with 20 of the most powerful captains of commerce in America: "I want to dispel any notion we want to inhibit your success," Obama said. "We want to be boosters, because when you do well, America does well."
Hey, good for him.
If he means it.
For if he's truly sincere about bolstering -- instead of slowly strangling -- business, it's great news for the still-ailing US economy.
And this, after having just thrown his cherished soak-the-rich tax hikes under the bus and agreeing to hold off on higher rates for anyone.
It would have been enough to make Friedrich Hayek all tingly with joy.
Obama later sat with the execs, ostensibly to pick their brains -- and to nudge them to liberate some of the $2 trillion in cash that business has been sitting on out of fear of economic-policy uncertainty in Washington.
He called for "a balanced approach to regulation that will promote, rather than undermine, growth" and "ideas that will
help encourage businesses to invest in America."
Now, forgive us a bit of cynicism, but it seems as if the prospect of an impending election -- much like the proverbial hanging -- can concentrate the mind (especially when the last election proved an absolute bloodbath for Obama's party).
Indeed, not long ago, Obama was railing against Wall Street "fat cats" and calling for major regulatory restraints on their practices -- particularly their compensation packages.

There is nothing to suggest that Obama and his ilk have nothing but contempt for business owners large and small.
We need new tax cuts to stimulate the economy.
Obama knows that to continue current rates won’t be nearly enough. His desire to destroy this country is as strong as it ever was, along with his tactics of deceptiveness.

Obama needs to be buried up to his mouth in the 2012 campaign, with all of his actions and statements over the past two years, that is, IF the republicans have the long term strategic brains and the will to mount such a campaign and get it together now.
The sitting democrats and the ones booted out should also be front and center, plastered in front of Independent voters, as exhibit A, reminding voters why you NEVER trust marxists to keep the Republic solvent or free.
