“However, even if DeMint has the votes to block passage of START, he allowed himself to be snookered into dropping his demand to have the legislation read on the floor of the Senate, which gives the initial appearance of a surrender on his part.

Someone of his stature should know by now that the lying yellow dog press will attempt to make anything he does look bad to the American people. On first glance, it looks to me like he inadvertently handed them a public relations victory - if not a real one.

Were I Jim DeMint, I would have forced Harry Reid to go to the microphones and capitulate to the Republicans in public. That just would have had to have been part of the deal. The way it looks now, it appears that DeMint is the one who caved.”

++++++++++++++++

I disagree. I think DeMint knows he’s got a large number of battles to fight inside and outside the Republican party, and he’s choosing his battles. That’s not PR surrender or any other kind.

That’s wise.

No offense to you personaly SB, I usually enjoy your posts but that is pretty lame spin. Is that coming straight from DeMint’s camp or just your take on things?

Either way, I would simply ask: What issue is DeMint, or any other Republican, doing something to block a single piece of the lameduck legislation?

By the time we celebrate Christmas it is quite possible that START, DADT repeal, Omnibus, Tax Cut/Earmark bonanza and some kind of climate legislation will be passed by these criminals.

Which battle do you think DeMint will take a stand on and say “Enough”?

Sorry, I am just very frustrated with “our side” and kind of feel abandoned by our supposed representatives. Let ‘em all work through Christmas.
