I'm not actually ready to throw Jim DeMint to the wolves, but I'll admit that certain aspects of this thing are unappealing on their face, to me.
I said in an earlier post that I'd stand down until we get better information about this. I'll wait.
Wait a minute people. Before you jump to conclusions, let’s give Jim a LITTLE benefit of the doubt. He COULD have the votes to KILL START. He might have some other tricks up his sleeve. Give him a little room to maneuver. Of ALL the people in the Senate, Jim deserves just a LITTLE bit of room to operate.
I'll wait along with you, please ping me if you see more info.
Man, you guys fold like cheap suits. Have a little faith. Sen. DeMint has always been a solid conservative and he has been a big supporter of new conservatives getting elected. He has taken on incumbent rino’s in the primaries. This treaty hasn’t been passed yet, maybe he stopped the reading because he’s got the votes to stop it.

AMEN!
Article is misleading — DeMint is on Greta right now and he says he is trying to do everything to run out the clock so important issues are taken up in the new Congress, not in the lameduck sessions.
More of the medica trying to divide and conquer Republicans.
Thank you, it's good to know other people have been following these things for awhile. Everybody is so on edge they forget who has been in the trenches with them. Jim DeMint has been fighting for conservatism for a long time.
Demint got a deal. He traded a day - 24 hrs - versus the approximate 15 hr full reading of START.
Demint on Greta. I’m just trying to run out the clock before January.
If you haven't already, read through the whole thread. A few cool-headed Freepers brought up some very good points that most of us didn't stop to consider.
I also would like to hear from someone in DeMint's office about the details of this strategy. Right now, it looks bad on us, even though he just forced Reid's hand in the matter.
I place the blame squarely on the 69 million people who actually cast a vote for this con-man, charlatan, and all-around bullsh*t artist; along with his tools further on down the ticket. Thanks, you damn fools.
Which is why Sarah is my first choice for 2012. She’s proven she has more balls than most of the men in the Republican Party.
I understand that most Americans do not think this a lame-duck session. They think the new people have already taken office because te IL people see Mark Kirk there!
So, when I read this original article I flipped out. I called Sen. Demint’s office today and posted earlier how they said he was “for sure” going to demand a reading.
Then I see this article and my head almost exploded.
I come to this thread and realize, through the postings of other Freepers, that I had in fact been manipulated by the media into thinking one of my only defenders on Capital Hill was actually my enemy.
Thank you FreeRepublic I will have to start donating in the New Year!
Good luck with the 2012 primaries, DeMint.
Senator Demint also said on Greta a few minutes that he still plans to have the entire 2,000 page, omnibus spending bill read aloud. He’s doing all he can.
Yep, the enemedia will print most anything to discredit a conservative. An earlier article said Reid is the one that folded to save whoever had to read it most of the night from doing it.
“So when is the rally on DC going to happen to protest this lame duck session?!!!
Wrong time of year?”
Rallies and elections appear to do no good. This lame duck Congress rolls on, ignoring the message from November elections. What do we do next?!
Yeah, when she’s not supporting McCain.
Maybe there’s something going on that we’re as yet unaware of.
One can hope.
The GOP needs to bring this to a standstill.
If a Socialist "Independent" named Bernie Sanders can filibuster, so can the Republicans.
