(Video at link) A Florida high school basketball game turns into a wrestling match after a player body-slammed a referee on the court.

The incident, which was caught on video, shows Desoto High School player Mason Holland, identified by the Fort Myers News-Press, losing his cool after getting ejected during a game against Port Charlotte High School on Monday. He then took his aggression out on the referee, throwing him to the ground.

The refs refused to continue to officiate the game after the incident, giving Port Charlotte a forfeit win.

Good old fashioned butt whippin’ would be in line but since he's a diverse student, they will coddle him and tell him its not his fault and let him get away with it. Besides, the referee was white and its ok for a diverse student to attack a whitey.

I agree about the criminal charges. I’d add: Sue the young turd, too. Although he probably doesn’t have much money, the ref can get whatever the kid does have and/or force the kid into his Very First Bankruptcy.

Racist comment on FR? Who'd of thought?

The mods do a great job of removing such content. Those who post it serve one purpose and that is to affirm the criticisms libs have of conservatives, Republicans and Free Republic.

I know the favoritism is obvious in pro-sports like the NBA. I remember when the Indiana Pacers would play teams like the NY Knicks and the Pacer players would get called for the most stupid things but yet, the Knick players would not get called on anything.

> But in some games, the biggest challenge was getting past refs that would make OBVIOUS “equalizing” calls. It was sometimes incredibly demoralizing.

Being aware of the much higher rate of violent crime among young black men is racist?

“Future star in the NBA...”

I was thinking more along the lines of future PRESIDENT!! The only difference being he would have also lifted the ref’s wallet and accused him of racism.

>>Would you think the same way if your daughters had thought the same way about your authority?<<

To a degree, yes. I am only human, and there is a point where they need to know that. The good news is it is part and parcel to getting through puberty.

And that is one of the reasons I cannot enjoy watching basketball.

Racist comment on FR?

Since the post was never made, the racism in it would be from your own imagination.

And that is one of the reasons I cannot enjoy watching basketball.

This problem seems to afflict most professional sports. Between my taxes having to pay for the stadiums and the unpunished (and even condoned) animal-like behavior of some of the atheletes, it really is not enjoyable anymore.

I dumped TV in 1997. If I enjoyed professional sport, or even college sports, it would have been very difficult if not impossible.

The kid is not only a thug, he is a stupid thug.

The ref had just blown his whistle to call a foul on the opposing player which was good for him; and then he pushed the player on whom the foul was called, which resulted in a technical against himself.

The perp needs to be banned from high school sports forever. Even expelled from that school. Let him plan his NBA career while sitting on the street corner wondering why no one will even talk to him.

Just another Amish thug raised in an Amish culture of hate for white folks. It wasn’t the thugs fault for pushing the other player it was the refs fault for calling the foul.
