Scientists: It's not too late yet for polar bears

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Two groups of scientists are suggesting a sliver of hope for the future of polar bears in a warming world.

A study published online Wednesday rejects the often used concept of a "tipping point," or point of no return, when it comes to sea ice and the big bear that has become the symbol of climate change woes. The study optimistically suggests that if the world dramatically changed its steadily increasing emissions of greenhouse gases, a total loss of critical summer sea ice for the bears could be averted.

Another research group projects that even if global warming doesn't slow—a more likely near-future scenario—a thin, icy refuge for the bears would still remain between Greenland and Canada.

Typo. I meant to say the power plants have to cool their discharage water now. This means the canals in Florida by the plants the manatees used to go to are much colder than before. The poor manatees are freezing to death now.

Thank ******g environmentalists.

Considering that there are now more polar bears than at any time since the end of the last glaciation, I’m guessing they can be saved.

The question is, can global warming scientists be saved?

Scientists—it’s still not too late to jump off a cliff and save us from your carbon emissions.

>>The stupidity of the AP never ceases to amaze.<<

especially considering this story today:

I sense some contradictory perspectives here.

It can’t be too late — otherwise the shakedown is over. Just as any clever doomsday prophet knows; don’t give a hard date. “The end is near”, but not so near that a nice cash contribution won’t forestall the inevitable.

I would suggest that all scientists and all citizens who are really worried about this should put a Polar Bear family up in a refrigerated spare bedroom. It would be some extra cost to install the refrigeration and the very large bathtub required for swimming. And, of course, there would be some cost to feed the the bears an environmentalist approved diet. But hey, polar bears are a “priceless” asset so I’m sure they aren’t worried about the cost.

It would also be very meaningful experience for their kids to get to know such wonderful creatures. The polar bears would undoubtedly survive and thrive in refrigerated rooms and the kids would be able to write school reports about the time momma bear hunted down and ate the family dog.

And, maybe (most important) we could quickly reach a tipping point on the population of global warming worriers.

The stupidity of the AP never ceases to amaze.

It's not stupidity. It's totally rational political propaganda disguised as "news." AP's stable of eco-freaks is dedicated to spreading junk science lies for the goal of world socialism.

I'm not aware of any contact information for Lord Monckton, Cletus, but I agree, he seems to have the sense of humor to really appreciate "Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Alteration" (CACA). I know it cracks me up. If I do happen upon any info I'll pass it on to you.

"Global Warming" >>> "Climate Change" >>> "Global Climate Disruption" >>> "Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Alteration" (CACA)
