Obama The Weak (What a fall from the Obamessiah!)
Townhall ^ | 12/15/2010 | Dick Morris And Eileen McGann

Moving to the center is not a two-dimensional process. It has a third dimension -- the difference between strength and weakness. In the course of coming in from the cold of his extreme far-left positions, the president looks like a wimp, abandoning his long-held views in the face of electoral defeats, adverse court rulings, recalcitrant Democrats and strong, united Republican opposition.

And wimps don't win.

When Bill Clinton moved to the center, he arrived in triumph. After vanquishing the Republican Congress during the government shutdown of 1995-1996, he agreed to a balanced budget deal with Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott. But it was his deal, along his lines, on his principles. When he signed a welfare reform bill, he did so after beating back and vetoing two Republican bills that coupled reform with harsh cuts in Medicaid. After he got a bill on his own terms, he signed it.

Barack Obama's "compromise" with the Republicans over the Bush tax cuts is no more of a compromise than was the deal Emperor Hirohito cut with Gen. Douglas MacArthur on the deck of the battleship Missouri after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was a surrender, not a compromise. It was submission, not triangulation.

Obama surrendered. He didn't triangulate or force the Republicans to deal on his terms. He simply surrendered and legitimized the conservative agenda. Now he's weak. What a fall from the heights as the Obamessiah!

“Emperor Hirohito cut with Gen. Douglas MacArthur on the deck of the battleship Missouri after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”

Subtle reminder of Obama’s own gaffe or is Dick Morris also a history lightweight?

This is not a victory for Republicans or a defeat for Democrats. The Democrats get another near Trillion of spending and the Republicans get an extension rather than making the tax rates permanent. The temporariness of the tax cuts means that certainty was NOT added back into the system for business calculation. This bill is a loss for Republicans. It is a loss for the Democrats just as the briar patch was a loss for Bre’er Rabbit.

Obama makes Jimmy Carter look like a superhero by comparison.

Now how bad is it when one can make that kind of comparison?

Answer: very very very VERY bad!

Morris is probably not meaning it literally, but the deal was cinched upon signing on the ship, and it certainly was cut to benefit Hirohito.

A strong leader is at least able to fake being humble and claim to be following the will of the voters. This leaves him in a position to answer the “call of the people” later on, when he wants to advance his own agenda again.

A weak leader cuts the very same deal, but then whines and calls his opposition names, even after the deal is done. This just makes him look petty and vindictive, and he has no credibility because he has not voluntarily submitted to the will of the voters.

A strong man abandons himself and finds strength in the fact that he holds the Presidency of the United States, the most powerful and majestic office in the World. A weak man clings to his own piddling strength and abilities, and holds himself more dear than the office, so he never realizes the strength that comes merely from the fact that he sits in that chair.

I’m pretty sure that was a symbolic reference to make the greater point that Obama is a LOSER.
