Bill OReilly recently talked with frequent Fox News guest Charles Krauthammer to handicap potential GOP candidates chances in the 2012 presidential election. Krauthammer called Mitt Romney the front-runner and said Mike Huckabee has established himself as a major player but his most dissected comments will probably be his remarks on one Sarah Palin.
Krauthammer compared Palins problem to Hillary Clintons in the late 1990s strong support from her core base, virulent opposition from most others. OReilly asked if the level of opposition to Palin is the medias fault, and while Krauthammer said theyve contributed enormously and that the animus to her is unprecedented, he also allowed that she is not practiced in policy and that the infamous Katie Couric interview was not a gotcha interview. According to Krauthammer, Palins growth in mastering policy issues will shape her fate:
I think if you want to expand your base, you have to get into policy even though it sounds dull.

With MENSAs like you telling us we needed a celebrity candidate, I readily recognize the near impossible task he had. The stupid party wanted to “win” with a RINO.
Nevertheless, Hunter’s contributions to conservatism far outweigh the young lady’s.
Incorrect apostrophes aren't typos. LOL
I’m happy to fat finger things now again. I’d really be ashamed though if I spent months browbeating conservatives over not voting for McAmnesty.
I usually like Krauthammer, but he’s been particularly picky WRT Sarah. IMHO, he’s holding her to a different standard.
What would it take for her to be viable with him?
I don’t think there is anything that would satisfy him where she is concerned.
It was Sarah who took the heat for saying it, it was Sarah who was lambasted by the media, it was the media who focused on her and ignored everyone else who talked about it. It was Sarah who didn't wither, who stood firm in her insistence that death panels were a reality of the legislation and who will eventually be borne out. In the meantime they attack her every time she opens her mouth, makes a TV appearance, takes a trip to a third-world hellhole for humanitarian purposes or stands still while her daughter makes an adjustment to her hair...
Exactly like you. Jackass.
Oh by the way, did he ever get that little thing he was involved with (the thing that sent Duke Cunningham to jail), completely cleared up. I think he had to returned some big time contributions from some aerospace outfit after he was caught it was found out about, if I'm remembering correctly.
Always wondered as popular as he is, why didn't he take a shot at governor of California or maybe even challenge Boxer?
I actually agree with you. I’m not even close to being a Palin fan, but for Kraut to hold up Mitt and Huck as supremely viable and therefore, by extension, extremely knowledgeable candidates is a sick joke.
At least Palin had large military installations in her state, and a son in the military and knows damn well what the 2nd amendment means. I doubt if Mitt’s dishpan hands have ever fired as much as a Ralphie special BB gun.
And with Huck, his biggest claim to foreign policy experience and brilliance was teaming with Romney to beg the congress to pass Clinton’s wet dream - most favored nation status for red china.
that there is a couple of bright ones.
That old tea party thing was really just a passing fad anyway, huh?
Pissant Means Pissant!
Thanks for Kagan, Obamacare and an economy in the tank. Jackass.
You just made me one happy woman! You agree with me! lol
Actually, I agree with you on most things, and most candidates. However, the scrutiny that Palin has received is akin to a colonoscopy...pay per view and in your neighborhood theater.
Huck and Mittens...what a pair. IIRC, Huck wanted to normalize relations with Cuba because it benefited his state?
Kraut is a colleague of the Huckster, and Mittens is establishment republican.
Yep...a couple, or three if you include Kraut...of very bright ones, there.
You Going to vote for Zero again?
or are you mad at “just don't tell?”?
How's the weather in San Francisco? Picture Perfect?
That bus is getting way too crowded.
We need to “add on” to accommodate more people! lol
The Palin adminstration has elected not to have a bevy of Christmas Party's for the Media and the normal fare of all types as they spend their 1st Christmas at 1600 Penn. Instead, it is hosting diners at the White House for Veterans of all Conflicts and for Soldiers Recovering at Walter Reed. Rumors are the Palin's may even volunteer at a local soup Kitchen on Christmas Day...
This Fantasy Post is Krauthammer's worst nightmare... He might just live it...
Actually, now that you ask, Hunter is one of only a couple of politicians who visit old Cunningham in jail. I think he may have even testified at the trial for a lenient sentence for Duke, if I recall.
As to what he’s been up to, he just finished a book on the Iraq War. He had been hitting up some local CA book stores with appearances. He’s been spending time with his son Sam who came back with the 4th Stryker Brigade in Sept. He took a group of Wounded Warriors on his annual hunt down in Texas last week. He was back to DC for General John Kelly’s son’s funeral (A marine and family friend killed in Afghanistan right before Thanksgiving). He has been busy fundraising for the Armed Forces Foundation (he’s a board member). he was on Hannity’s show and CSPAN recently. And just lately, advising Congress and the pentagon how to succeed in Afghanistan.
Kraut is pretty sharp. But not when it comes to picking candidates. A fog forms.
I’m sure you and I agree, in fact I know we do, on most things. Just like I do with the vast majority of Palin fans on most things. But once again, it is picking candidates that causes the most heartburn here. At least for them, anyway. LOL. Much like the Fredheads of yesteryear. But hopefully we won’t get another wet noodle nominated. At least I can say Palin is not a wet noodle.
You are the one who is supporting the candidate with the mushy “not a priority now” view of repealing DADT. All the ones I support say “not now, not ever, and here’s why...”
You better be thanking me for not getting that senile retard elected.
