More "free" lunches thanks to Michelle's bloated "security" bill

More than two-thirds of New York City's public school students will begin getting more nutritious free or low-cost school lunches under First Lady Michelle Obama's pet project to get kids to eat well and exercise.

President Obama signed into law Sunday the $4.5 billion Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which expands the free lunch program and requires that schools provide more nutritious lunches.

"We've seen the connection between what kids eat and how well they perform in school," he said.

Some 680,000 out of 1.1 million New York children participate in the school lunch program - a big chunk of the 16 million kids nationwide served by the program.

Moochelle will soon find out that children will eat what they want. They like cafeteria food days that feature pizza, cheese burgers & french fries, beef Manhatten (old days) and sloppy joes. The kids that are smart will be out in the parking lot eating at a tail gait hour.

We've seen the connection between a certain ethnic group (4 generations of welfare), that get "free" handouts to buy their votes for the Democrats, using Taxpayers' earnings to do so for 40 years....

"Michelle wants salad bars and vegetables served in schools. It’s going to be heartbreaking to see all that “nutricious” food being thrown out because kids WON’T eat it!"

You are not the first to make that observation. I'll wager that I will still see single mothers with kids from more than one father at the store paying for sugary treats, chips, and sodas (and nothing else) with their non-stigma-inspiring EBT card and I will further expect to see no improvement in their children's health, grades, nor in their behavior.

I just wonder how the feds are going to "make" the kids eat healthier before, during, and after school, as her mandate states. After all, it's too important to leave to the parents. Out of context, yes, but not outside her thinking and their agenda.

In my school district in the kids not only get free breakfast and lunch they also get a snack TWICE a day (morning and afternoon).Classrooms have a basket that one student takes down to the lunchroom and fills with fresh fruit. All students may help themselves—even if they don’t qualify for free lunch. I’m not sure if every school does this, since the district has a few schools in wealthier neighborhoods. In some of these schools as much as 90% of the kids “qualify” for free lunch and the majority of them live with single parents. It’s very rare to meet a kid with two married parents and very common for them to have step-parents, mom’s boyfriend, dad’s girlfriend, grandparents, foster parents because parent is in jail, etc.
